Double post...

Personally I love the Okoro pick. Gives us a dimension we don’t currently have on the team. I know this is an apples-to-oranges comparison, but I’m hoping he can have a Marcus Smart type impact on the Cavs (in terms of grit, toughness, want-to, etc.)

Stevens is actually a nice 3-4 underrated signing he adds yet another athletic defender but who also lacks floor spacing like Okoro though.
At least with Okoro the shooting looks like its just a shooter coach away from being decent.
If anyone else is brought in i hope its one of the slept on guards brein tyree is my fav has that same vibe as it3 who went 60th.But id settle for a high motor wing like Hinton or a stretch big like tillie

Soooo Kaeleb Wesson is just sitting out there waiting to be signed....I would really like for the Cavs to make that move. He could play in Canton on a 2-Way and keep refining his shot/mobility.

Yeah i think the biggest issue is developing kids that went udfa with gleague unlikely this season means more plug in defenders a proven undersized guards or specialist types eat up the 2way deals
Maybe an exibit 10 would work.
I see most are snagged up mason jones to houston nate hinton to Dallas Tillie to Memphis (steal) and Stevens to CLE.
The one guy who would help this roster a lot esp if kpj is gone or misses time is ty-shon alexander national sg of year out of Creighton .
But maybe the bigger travlin queen would make some sense too.

I can dig Okoro. Can Gilbert buy Matisse Thybulle's shooting coach? Always a place for guys like Gerald Wallace and Ron Artest...

Too bad there's been no Summer league. Okoro has already had a long stretch to work on that jumper, and none of us (anyway) have had a chance to see where he's at with it. My preference was a player who already had a jumper, but he's another hard working / high-character pick with TWO parents and if he'll put in the effort if he hasn't already.

Personally I dont think we need him to do much with it this year. Ive said before this Cavs team with Sexton/Garland/Love/Drummond/Porter dont have any issue scoring the ball. Those guys can take care of the offense while Okoro focuses on defense and getting himself in rhythm on the offensive end.

If he comes out and scores 10pts per game on slashes, moves the ball on offense and plays great defense that will help out this team immensely

I'm fine with Okoro. I'm less fine passing on Okongwu.

Okongwu would have been nice but hes just a stretched out version of Okoro. Similar players with their strengths/weaknesses one just plays SF and the other PF. Since SF is a much larger area of need for the Cavs taking Okoro seemed like the perfect balance of fit/need.

If we go out and sign Noel with the MLE, I'll get over it. Re-sign Henson if they whiff on Noel. But they need a rim protector because I don't think Drummond is in the long term plans and TT offers none. It's just crazy that the only rim protection on the roster since Mozgov walked was a few uninjured games of Henson and whatever Zizic offered in the third unit.

Some clips of Okoro’s playmaking. I’m buying his ability to be an ancillary playmaker in time.

Perhaps the Cavs play here is to try to convince Drummond and Love to stick around? Or maybe the deals we're looking for, would address losing our starting C and PF? Do we entertain a S&T for Tristan?

Sometimes the media has a good read on our internal dysfunction, and sometimes they overblow things that can be worked out.

Your right, I would love a little better longeterm piece than Noel though. The person I would really try and get is Mitchell Robinson from the NYK or even Julius Randall. I dont know what it would take or if they like him or not with Toppin now being on the roster with Randall and others but it would be worth making a call about

I mean Love is under contract and doesn't have much of a trade market so I'm not really worried about convincing him to stick around. As far as Drummond, his biggest defensive weakness is the 1-5 high PNR which just happens to be the most commonly run play in the NBA. Given the fact that all of Love, Sexton, and Garland also all suck at it, I don't think there's a way to make it work. You can put Okoro on the other team's PG and try to hide Sexton. You can maybe have Love check the screener and have Drummond rotate over at the rim in a junk zone. But it's just a lot easier if you have an athletic lengthy big all the way out there who can frustrate the point of attack and still recover on the roll.

I honestly think we are stuck with Love for the rest of his contract for good/bad. However Drummond at this trade deadline could be a easy piece to move to a playoff contender looking to make a final push. Correct me if Im wrong but he is a HUGE expiring contract that those type of teams would love to get.

Randle has a worse RDPM than Love. We can't be bringing in any more big men who are bad defenders.

Sure, but matching his contract without gutting a playoff roster can be a challenge.

The cap space next summer will be worth a lot even if they can't trade Drummond's deal.

I’m content with Okoro. I envision he’ll bring so much toughness and energy playing with his buddy and high school rival, The Young Bull.

But it just leaves a bad taste in my mouth seeing Wiseman go to the Warriors.
