If your only desire is to lose as many games, than sure.
But let's get real, even worst teams want to have some structure that does not hinder their assets.
Magic projected depth chart today is:
SG: Evan/Ross/--
SF: nobody/ Ross
PF: Gordon/Aminu/ Okeke
Is'a already bad as it is and FA will be used to fill SF spot, it's almost a given.
Lose Evan and your depth chart is
SG: Ross/ nobody /nobody
SF : Gordon/nobody/nobody
PF : Aminu/ Okeke
Not only that you washed your pick for basically nothing ( since that's what most 25-30 picks are ) , you also just pulled Ross into starter, something he can't be, and Gordon out of position, position where he flat out sucks at.
And now you are starting Aminu who spent whole year hurt and is 30.
So now you are burning yet another $9M ( 3 years, $30M ) mid level exception on another questionable player like Solomon Hill,Moore, KCP ... just to have funcional roster and you will still need additional, traditional SF. Once again, don't forget Magic moved second round picks to not play that many rookies.
It's a mess. Evan, if traded, should be traded for 2 players or 1 that has longer contract that actually can play rotation min, not pick that will turn into some new Darius Bazley or Mfiondu Kabengele ( yea, that's what late first rounders give you most of the time, guys you need to google to find they exist )
No, my desire is to build for the future, not for 2021 because clearly the way this team is assembled, we arent competing this year against teams like the bucks, nets, 76ers, celtics, heat. So clear room, develop young guys, and plan for the long term
Id much rather send out a lineup of
Fultz\Anthony in the backcourt, both are interchangable and can play the 1-2
Vuc\Gordon at C and PF
and then at SF, give iwundu a chance, let Chuma play some SF, give Frasier some PT for once, bring back Clark for min etc
And btw, id trade evan for Bazley straight up right now if OKC would do it, they wouldnt
As for Aminu, id rather they pay him to stay home than ever have to watch him in a game, hes horrible, and anyone who was on this board with their homer classes off told you that last year. It was a horrible signing then and now. Hopefully they find a way to get him off the roster asap
I hated the Aminu signing when it happened and I still hate it now. I agree. They should tell him to stay home. I'd even let Bamba play the 4 over him.
Skin, my friend, every year we have this talk about building to future, for last 4 years. Every year your imaginary goalpost is being moved to 2 years in advanced. We are now already moving " dream scenario " to 2022.
Soon you will be in line with Martins promised championship when it comes to deadlines
As far as Darious Bazley and value goes, i'm confident that some teams would trade him for good waterboy if that type of trades are legal
Or for one night stand ****r for Harden
