He has no place in the rotation at this moment or even in the near future. You really think he'll crack the 5 (even 4?) rotation amongst Green, Pashcall, WISEMAN, Chriss, and Looney? I didn't think so; You can't possibly dispute this fact. Once he shown strides this offseason into his 2nd year ahead of even Wiseman in development, then we'll talk. Otherwise, back to what I was a saying earlier: SUCH A WASTE.

He's 19 years old and cost 2 2nd round picks and has shown enough to warrant it. What is the problem with that? Is the only issue a roster spot?

It's 4/1/unprotected. By that logic the Minny pick "has protections"

Yeah, sorry, I wasn’t clear on that (Or not clear and evident enough.). I definitely am valuing immediate productivity rather than waiting for him to develop his game.

If we were in another situation like rebuilding, I’d be fine because that’s just how it goes. And now that we’re pretty backlogged at 5, what’s his role? To play in the G-League forever? Obviously, injuries are part of the game, so we’ll see how his progress is going if this occurs.

The Minny pick does have protections.
What am I missing here?
Unprotected means no protections. So something with protections is NOT unprotected. Basic logic is in question now? Wth

Well if we are beign intelectually dishonest then I'll make the argument any pick that's ever unprotected is an unprotected pick.

There is nothing you can do to guarantee you keep a top 4 protected pick trying to defend that garbage trade by saying it has protections is laughable.

I was just thinking that. Warriors got a lot more athletic with these adds. It's going to be a fun season to watch. There are going to be some crazy jams!

So you admit youre being intellectually dishonest? Cause nobody defended the trade, they just said its not an unprotected pick. If you have a problem with the trade thats great, but misrepresenting the trade doesnt make your point stronger, it makes it weaker, cause then someone like me looks at your argument and thinks, “oh this dude doesnt even know what the trade was - disregard”

so you expect to see more development out of a 2nd round pick as the #1 HS prospect that went #2 in the NBA draft? They took a chance on a second round pick, I don't get the outrage.

Opposite of a 3 and D player lol.
But then again curry and oubre might be the flash brothers, best looking backcourt. Them eyes

This was the recent scouting report on him from sportsforecaster.com:

"SCOUTING REPORT
Superbly long and athletic, helping him excel as a defender. He really thrives in an up-tempo game, keying transition with steals and slashing down the lane with high-flying dunks. A lefty who possesses solid offensive potential to go with his strong defensive upside. Can play anywhere from shooting guard to power forward. Shot selection is still a work in progress, which hurts his field goal percentage. Goes to his left far too often, and needs to develop more moves (especially to his right). Not much of a passer at all, and must improve his court vision. Can also use significant muscle mass.
Long Range Potential: Super-athletic, versatile wing player with some star tools."

He shot 35% on 3's last season with 5.5 attempts/game. Obviously not in Klay's tier as a shooter but better than someone who is "not a good shooter"; average shooter is probably more accurate (league average last season was 35.8%). In an interview, he said his goal was to be First Team All Defense and DPOY; at least its nice to dream big! And even if he doesn't sniff any all-defensive team, he should clearly improve our wing defense relative to our current roster.

Great pick up IMO. I would have preferred Joe Harris ....eh...maybe Warriors get lucky and fit him under the MLE?

On a related note, Fertitta is already taking shots at the Warriors for acquiring Oubre...

Is it really going to cost us that much to add Oubre?

This is seriously exciting, even if Curry was to miss 10-12 games, this is a Playoff team depending who the backup PG they will get (hoping for Elf Payton). With Curry playing every game this team can still fight for home court advantage in the 1st round. the Dubs are back baby!

It literally is an unprotected pick in 2026.

Arguing that a top 4 protection is protection is absolutely dishonest, people that don't keep up with these thing read that and assume lotto, maybe even more. You are almost guaranteed to lose that pick, that is the point of protection that if you get hit with a bad hand atleast you don't have to pay what you owe right away in that regard top 4 does essentially nothing.

Losing Andre still hurts. Is Austin Rivers worth a look or do they roll with Bowman/Poole/Nico?

Please not Austin Rivers...he's #4 on my "dislike" list behind Russ, Harden, and Paul. If we can somehow get Bradley on the other hand.

When they slip on the blue and gold those dislikes turn to likes real fast. (if they help you win)

Owners who are willing to go deep into tax to field a winning team is a badge of honor, not shame. Top players around the league take notice of moves like that and they're going to want to come play for Lacob instead of cheap ass penny-pinching owners like Fertitta.
