Latest word is Hayward prefers sign & Trade to Indiana, but the Celtics would have to receive an Asset that they actually want/need in this scenario. Of course, Hayward could always re-sign with Boston for $18-20M per, but his injury may suggest to those more knowledgeable than myself that more lower body injuries are coming.
I mean, knee sprains, calf strains, ankle sprains, next thing you know, it could be an achilles or ACL on the right side. And the nerve issues on the left side where he dislocated his ankle and broke his tibia mean something. And that pin & plate they put in the left hand to repair the 4th metacarpal bone that he previously broke in 2016 in Utah means the left hand has some structural issues. Wonder what the medical team would assess his probability of playing 65 out of 72 games. Probably low. Discounting playoffs, Hayward played in 131 out of 236 regular season games in 3 seasons in Boston. But only 14 out of 45 playoff games. Talk about average salary per game played. Possibly a record.
