I assume the still plan to use the TPE as well on a PG?. Clearly, the Warriors have profited over the last 5-7 years and will continue to do so. Kudos to ownership to doing all they can to still compete.

I'm not sure what it is going to take. This is what Warriors fans have been trying to tell everyone here for a year now, and nobody wants to listen.
There have probably been 100+ trade threads here that amounted to, "The Warriors trade Wiggins and get worse. Why? To save money." And every time, Warriors fans say, "Our ownership is printing money. They're going to spend money if they think it makes us a better team." And nobody believes us.
Then the TPE comes up, and everyone says, "They won't use that TPE. It would cost them a lot of money!" And Warriors fans say, "If it will make them a better team, they won't care. They'll spend the money." And nobody believes us.
And honestly, with the changed prognosis for this year, if things had changed, I wouldn't blame our owners. But it doesn't appear to have. And when we use the TPE, instead of people saying, "Huh. I guess they really will go deep into the tax to try to improve the team.", people (with the notable exception of Texas Chuck - props to him), respond by saying, "But they'll need to save money! I bet they'll trade Wiggins and make the team worse."
This is why I largely stopped trying to participate in Warriors trade talk here.
They were right that its an astronomical cost, and they were right that nobody else has paid it before. They were right to question it, and to see us fans as not seeing clearly - given the information they had at the time. They dont follow Warriors ownership like we do. Its to be expected.
Ill say that I expected the Suns to cut a bunch of salary and I was wrong about that, so even though I was right on this one, I was off on the Suns ownership financial commitment. Of course there werent a bunch of “Suns dump player and pick to save money” threads so my opinion on it wasnt expressed. But i was wrong none the less.

I hate Presti. He's just too good.

OK, basically a small token for taking Oubre's salary. Was afraid that Warriors might have traded Wolves pick.

Poll added and added to list of official deals.
I know it is absurd money, but it is Curry's prime. I'm a fan for both.

Idk that Marks is actually reporting this or just suggesting but the Minny 2nd as the fallback would be pretty great itself

The answer to the poll has to be either “both” or OKC. OKC is saving a bunch of money and adding an asset and they werent planning on competing anyways. Obvious win for them IMO.

agree but voted both. Would be a major OKC win if top 15 protected

Re: Oubre is on his way to SF [Shams & Woj]
I hate it for GSW. It's too much money for too little return. I think Presti could have gotten a better asset if he had taken back money so I'd rather he pursued that angle, but I'm sure he's going to take a salary dump into that TPE and get paid twice so I'm saying good deal for OKC.
Props to GSW ownership for spending, but I don't think they can justify spending it thus.

Idk about the number I’m posting this mostly for the Oubre reaction.

No surprise he didn't want to stay for our rebuild. The only ''unlucky'' guy will be Al Horford

Re: Oubre is on his way to SF [Shams & Woj]
It seems like people were insisting that GS should be trading down from #2 to #10 or getting some other late lotto pick to send to Phoenix in order to take Oubre into their TPE. Now they get him for a 21-40 pick and everyone hates it (the luxury tax issues didn't change - if anything they're less as it's been revealed that if revenues are low so there's a 30% escrow from salaries then luxury taxes will also be 30% lower).
Of course GS still needs a couple more perimeter guys. IMO they've got 8 players I'd trust to be better then replacement level and 5 are pf-C and people keep trying to have them trade for more bigs for fit.

Oops... yeah i mean, at minimum its a win for OKC. I think Oubre is a win for GSW at this cost (asset wise) so I voted "both" also. I just don't see the logic how it can not be a win for OKC at minimum.

This is a good point if we look back at what was being discussed for Oubre before he got traded to OKC this would’ve been a steal for GS. And it involved the TPE quite a few times. Klay just hadn’t gotten hurt yet.

So Golden State is sending something between a 21-40 pick and $15M in pure cap relief that the Thunder will likely turn into another pick. Can't complain about that either way.
I just cannot fathom paying $82M in salary + lux tax just to get Oubre for 1 year and then have his bird rights to pay him more and go even further over the cap in the future, but kudos to the Warriors owners for paying up to keep the team afloat. It's not like this move will make them go under or anything.
investigate Adam Silver

Very well said.
But props to Presti, he has made a lot of great deals to the point everyone is convinced that Thunder always won any trade.
I believe if Warriors do the exact same deal with Suns instead of Thunder, nobody would say Suns won the deal. Warriors won this trade simply because they always wanted Oubre and they got him from Thunder for a lower price than from the Suns.

You have a point, but the Suns are trying to make the playoffs while the Thunder aren't focused on that. But you have a point regardless.
