A big shout out to the Dubs owners for blessing the deal. The lux tax on this team is going to be HUGE. But my guess is they know how much more a winning team is worth than a losing one. It's still a very big number though.

Especially with the ch*** virus putting fan attendance in jeopardy after building a brand new arena
I'm surprised as a dubs fan. But I like it.

The tax bill is going to be smaller than the media is speculating. The NBA and NBPA agreed to adjust the tax down based on losses.
The Warriors plan to test EVERY fan has been turned down so they may not be able to have fans at games. How stupid.

Kelly was probably bummed to go to OKC as he was loving PHX
But I think he is going to love the bay

PG: Steph Curry
SG: Andrew Wiggins
SF: Kelly Oubre
PF: Draymond Green
C: James Wiseman
Bench: Marquis Chriss, Eric Paschall, Kevon Looney, Jordan Poole, etc.
Warriors suddenly look really athletic and long. Their fastbreaks are going to be deadly because Steph and Draymond are now surrounded by a bunch of athletes in that starting line-up.
With free agency starting tomorrow let’s hope they can round out the roster with some decent signings. Still need a bit more shooting and vets. But so far they’re actually looking good, and Steph will be stepping up to make up for the loss of Klay, so he’ll be playing with a chip on his shoulder with everyone counting out GSW now.

I think it will be the Warriors #1, with some protection on it.
I was expecting in the range of top 15, so not that far off as it is top 20 protected. It's a good deal for the Warriors, they needed a starter for at least 1 season and I'm good with the possibility of giving up our 1 instead of Minnesota's.

Nice one Bob. Lacob putting his money where his mouth is, in regards to keeping us competitive. Kerr, Steph and Draymond you're up.

So I am currently high but the way I read this:
Code: Select all
Sources: The Warriors will only convey that first-round pick next season should they finish 21-to-30 in the final regular season standings. If the Warriors land in the top 20, they’ll send two second-round picks to OKC.
It's reverse protection. E.g. if the pick is a high pick we give it away, if it's low (e.g. we make the playoffs or something close to it) we keep it and give them 2 2nds. Can't remember seeing this kind of protection before.

I'm absolutely happy with this. Well done Joe Lacob. That tax bill is astronomical to the tune of a record amount for the NBA. You're welcome, other teams. Our owner ship SPEND to win. Come play with us. No matter the cost, we are ALWAYS trying to win. Big ballz owner, this will resonate with free agents. This will resonate with stars. This will resonate with the media. Light years.
I wasn't a fan of briging in Kelly, pre Klay nightmare. However, I think Bob and Joe have done the right thing. Kelly the player is excellent, and I'm all in on cheering for him now as a player, and a damn straight pretty face to add to our quota of prettyness with Steph and Mannion.
I believe we are going to receive an exemption from the NBA for Klay's injury. We have to. Silver and Myers/Lacob are tight, like peas and carrots. Adam will hook us up, which will allow us to resign Kelly long term. It'll all be gravy. We won't make a title push this season now, but that's all good. The season after next, we will have:
Steph / Mannion / Bowman
Klay / Poole / Jessop
Wiggins / Oubre / Lee
Draymond / Paschall / Looney
Wiseman / Chriss / Smiley
+ Minnesota 1st.

All the dummies on the GB and the trade Board etc all claimed Lacob wouldn’t spend. People just don’t understand how competitive our ownership is.

Re: [Shams] Warriors/Thunder in Serious Talks for Oubre
Great deal! First, it's really nice to have an ownership group that doesn't mind spending – especially evident now if you compare it to Houston. Second, if the pick conveys that means we had a really good season and Oubre probably had a part in that. In that case, I'm happy to convey a pick in the 20s. Third, Oubre really helps our team. He can volume-score a bit which we might need, but most importantly he improves our wing defense and provides athleticism. Both is much needed. Oh, and he can also slide over and play minutes as PF – very nice to have if we want to go small with Green at the 5 and an additional smaller shooter or even to keep Green fresher, or if we want to play 4 out with Wiseman in the middle for some minutes.
This. No idea what to expect but I'm looking forward to seeing us competing again. Of course as I say this, Klay's injury sucks. A lot.

I would expect it's just weird phrasing, or else everyone would have gotten it completely wrong.

100 or 200 million is peanuts for this Silicon Valley ownership group
For these guys having partial ownership in the Warriors is their hobby..They love it in every way

Oubre for a top 20 protected FRP. I'm definitely good with this trade.
