That's not an overpay. The MLE is almost $10m.
Giannis has until Dec 21.
Giannis has until Dec 21.

I remember 11-30 with these guys. ^

We really shouldn't.
Can't overpay for a streaky over 30 role player.
So much player movement, a max guy guy could become available soon and we need to use the cap space wisely.
We should offer a bigger 1 year deal, if someone offers him lower multi year deal, that's Crowder's choice.
You save the long term money for consistent/young role players, for stars, or for high upside improving guys.
Yeah Gom is right its not an overpay. 3yrs 36 mil is like 11mil starting salary. Keep in mind we can afford that and still have a max contract to offer a free agent next offseason.
Also if someone like Joe Harris is being offered something like 18mil like has been rumoured I think Crowder could get something slightly less than that. Remember Jae was starting for a team that made it to the finals. While with us last season averaged 12ppg, 5.4rpg, 1.6apg, 1.3spg shooting 44% from 3 in 27mpg all while playing great defense.
It may be a small sample size so maybe some teams might be hesitant to offer him big money but for teams that have the MLE I think he'd have his pick of the litter.
Also in my eyes Jae was pivotal in the Milwaukee series defending against Giannis and if we want a hope of Giannis not resigning with Milwaukee next season we will likely have to beat them again unless someone else can.

How would that be a Mbob/Waiters or JJ contract? For one we just made the finals we aren't a crappy team trying desperately to improve and two once we add another max guy next season this rosters basically locked in until Jimmy's contract expires and if Crowder gets a 3yr deal with us he'd expire at the same time as Jimmy.
And again we can sign Crowder for 10-12mil and still have enough for a max salary next season provided no one else on the team is more than a 1yr deal. But keep in mind even if we somehow add guys who are on longer than 1yr deals Riley got Butler with no cap space and a bunch of terrible contracts on the team. If Giannis or whoever is available and wants to be here and we have guys like Crowder or Gallinari on larger than 1yr deals we can make it work. Milwaukee wont want to lose Giannis for nothing and I doubt Giannis would want to leave the team high and dry so they would take what we'd have to offer if Giannis wanted to sign here.

If u don't want 2b here, the way things work, u don't like it, then don't b here. U have 2 stand on something. If Miami ain't standing on something, they become alot of these organizations trying 2 find their identity. This is the culture, bro -Wade

It's an overpay for us situation.
Highlight part is incorrect. You add 11+ Mil$ to next year's books and we don't have enough for a full Max unless we get into complex cap gymnastics that might cost us assets we shouldn't give.
You don't risk the option to add a Giannis/Kawhi in order to keep Crowder for one more year. We can't get into bidding wars against the Hawks of the world for role players. We're a destination team and hunting for whales in the next 2 years.
I'd like Crowder to stay - you offer him a bigger 1 year deal or he can choose long term security elsewhere.

Re: Official Miami Heat Off-Season GT - Saving you from IggieCC
If we can’t get the guy we want now, then load up with tradable 1+1TO deals right up to the tax line. Overpay them a bit, just don’t hit the tax line. This ensures we can trade for an all-star during the season if one comes available. Then we decline all options and head into FA with max+ space.
It’s smart: it builds good will with players & agents. It also lines the pockets of potential vet min signings to fill the margins after we do sign that max FA in 2021.
Also this year, continuity is more valuable than other years, especially if it comes with good vibes and a team that is together.

This is the right way of thinking, IMO. Load up to the tax line with balloon contracts, knowing we want that space next off season.

I call BS.
Don't see how or why we keep DJJ when we just got basically rich-man's DJJ in Precious.
Leonard won't stay to be deep bench guy, And I doubt we want to make him a rotation guy again after seeing the playoffs.
I think we're targetting Gallinari and Milsap, probably Wes, and maybe a defensive guard like De'Anthony Melton or someone like that

Crowder for 36/3 is a no-brainer to me. If he was on another team I suspect we'd all be willing to offer that for a 30yo combo forward who can stretch the floor and provide solid versatile defense all while seemingly being a great teammate. In 41 games total (RS + PS) with Miami he was 39% on over 2.7 made 3s per game with a 120 ORTG

This time next year the HEAT could have to beg teams to take that contract.

You don't resign CRowder to anything more than a bloated 1 year deal, well him or Dragic I guess, but nothing that affects next year

Thoughts of bringing back JJ on a minimum deal.....???
Came in out of shape last season. There’s a reason he was on the bench and it wasn’t talent. Not a chance.

1-year deals or we will regret like we did with JJ and Weighters.
Ibaka is the only free agent available, including our own, that I'd consider giving 2-years to.

Skill wise, his fit with this team would be great! Loved his defensive ability, ability to run the break, and ability to get buckets. His best year with us was really impressive and a player I loved having in the team. Everything after that was caca! His mindset changed, and that work ethic and commitment went out the window. If he brings back that pre-payday work ethic and mentality, then that is a heck yes! Otherwise, let’s give precious and KZ minutes to develop.

Nah. That ship has sailed.
Would rather give "P" those minutes.
