Real solid dude, not young and brash. Grew up in a military family with his dad so he is headstrong and respectful. Has the size and skill at 20 to write his own ticket to greatness, now let's just hope he can. He may make Ayton look bad at times.

"He may make Ayton look bad at times." THIS.

Sheandre "2nd contract" Ayton or Jalen "navy-workethic" Smith... hmmm? I don't know if Jalen has enough talent to unseat Ayton, but he certainly passes the humility, work-ethic, heart and passion eye test. He is a JJ guy for sure. There is no doubt in my mind that JJ and Monte will use Jalen as heathy competition for that starting center spot.

Will Ayton rise to the occasion and play better, or will he sulk off to the sidelines? This is Ayton's put up or shut up year. He has a young gun on the team who may jeopardize that 2nd contract he covets so much. Too much has been handed to SheAndre... it's time for him to earn it. How bad does Ayton want it?

Yeah Jones certainly has a 'type' he goes after from a personality standpoint. Since becoming GM he's added a lot of hard working high character guys. It's the type of group that makes life easier for Monty and I think Chris Paul will enjoy.

Seems like his Dad also raised him up to be a hardcore Lakers fan. So we'll see how that goes once his rookie contract is up.

Excited for him to be on the team and give Ayton some competition. I'm really hope adding CP3 and Stix lights a fire under Ayton and he makes a huge leap this season!

I think Jalen will be good for us and might eventually make Ayton tradeable. He's going to be easy to root for at least.

Lol, unusual for a GM to say that.

I assume he was specifically referring to cultural fit rather than positional?

Could be wrong though

Jalen's frame and definition reminds me of david robinson. Maybe it's the navy connection that's making me think that.

I fully expect us to target a 3/4 with the MLE. I just have no idea who because I expect contracts to be a bit weird during the pandemic. I think Jerami Grant will cost too much but maybe a guy like Mo Harkless bites? Jae Crowder?

We did it!

Interesting. I wonder which teams

Also, if those teams also saw him as a 4, perhaps his footwork and agility have improved since the college games we've seen. That would be pretty exciting.

My buddy compares Jalen Smith to a young and raw Kevin Durant. Forget his jumpshot looking at his blocking ability he kinda reminds me of Mutombo..
