FVV comparison is interesting. Height 6.2 to 6.1 and wingspan 6.4,5 to 6.2 in favour of PP. It would be nice if we finally got a steal end of the first round...

He is NOT FVV. For one, FVV is built like a brick wall.

Two, FVV was and is a demonstrably better shooter. Look up their college shooting.

Three, Carsen Edwards was an AA guard too, look how that has turned out. So was Jalen Brunson and while I like Brunson he's nothing more than a 15 MPG bench guy in the NBA. And honestly, Edwards and Brunson were meaningfully better college players than Pritchard.

FVV is the same size as Pritchard. Height and weight are almost identical, so are their college shooting stats.

FVV height = 6'1" weight = 197 lbs college 3-point % = .386 FG % = .426
Pritchard height = 6'1" weight = 206 lbs college 3-point % = .379 FG % = .437

Sorry I'm a bit confused. Pritchard's height is being listed between 6'1" and 6'3" by different sources. How tall is he, really?

I mean, when it comes to PG size, being 6 foot 3 has a huge advantage over being 6 foot 1 doesn't it?

I'll say this: Jimmer was drafted what, 8th overall? I'm too lazy to check but in the lottery which inflated his projections and value. Fredette was expected to come in and start and be amazing. And he was drafted by the Kings which speaks for itself. We drafted Pritchard at 26. We hope he can come off the bench and just hit some shots right now. And I think the environment he's walking into will be significantly more hospitable than what Fredette walked into.

I think people who were disappointed in the pick because they didn’t know who he is keep rounding down to 6’1”. I’ve been more interested in his weight since it’s the first thing I’m looking at for PGs these days — I think I’ve seen from 185 to 210lbs for Pritchard.

This is a good point. People keep referring to him as small. And maybe some of that is the wingspan. But he's not a weakling out there. Like Tyrell Terry, a guard many (including me) wanted instead is still under 180 I believe. Pritchard is pretty solidly built right now and it wouldn't surprise me to see him put on a little more muscle once he gets into the league. I think his playing weight is gonna hover close to 200 lbs. I think he'll compete at the defensive end. And more importantly, I think he'll score enough and make enough plays at the other end to counter those weaknesses at the other end.

My main takeaway after the bubble is just that we couldn't get ANYTHING from our bench to help us win. No shooting at all. Sure, at times Kemba's lack of size kinda hurt us with Toronto and Miami, but what really deflated us was the inability to consistently hit shots. Guys just started to hang their heads and that frustration would show up on defense. Wd had hoped Edwards could give us that lift but he never did. But I'm convinced that we were just one sharpshooter away from making the Finals and I've said as much here before. So to get Pritchard, and more to that point Nesmith can make a huge difference if they can play to their capabilities.

I hope so - but FVV is an example of how height and wingspan are often overrated more than he is a guy who is held back significantly by a couple of inches.

Wichita State was 121-15 in the four season FVV was running the show (at least, in the four seasons he was there), incl 9-4 in the tourney. Granted, they played a weak reg season schedule, but it's also worth noting that Ron Baker and Cleanthony Early were the only "NBA prospects" he played with. Pritchard led teams were 95-38. FVV posted slightly better stats almost across the board, although Pritchard's were comparable considering the increased level of competition.

Footspeed is the area where I am skeptical of this comparison. While it's tough for me to compare the two without combine results...

FVV's draftexpress page, from 2014, "Though the small guard isn't a freak athlete, he does possess impressive quickness and can be a pest when opposing guards are loose with their handle away from the rim." Pritchard's nbadraft.net capsule: "Foot speed limits his defensive ability at the next level to some degree."

Great handle and shot. If he can translate his game to the next level (and he's a worker, think he can) and can pull from anywhere, imagine guarding him, JT, Nesmith all at the same time. Floor is gonna be so stretched they might have to move the front few rows back!

He does actually play like Kyrie from things I've watched. I wouldn't say he is the white Kyrie more the Walmart Kyrie with lay up package sold separately.
