Re: Bucks Bogdan Bogdanovic Boondoggle
Agents are not exactly the highest of the high, but wasn’t Bog’s agent just going to bat for his player? Original deal around Bledsoe would’ve allowed ~20M/year, whereas the deal the Bucks and Kings agreed to only allowed 15M/year. So Bogs was gonna lose 15-20M total over the course of the contract. So the agent nixed the deal. Once other teams found out, it probably looked like the Bucks were trying to finesse Bogs

If Bogdan didn't want to settle for that, it wasn't going to happen (regardless of whether the teams agreed on compensation). On to the next.
Bitter hot take: Moving forward, and not even considering the salary disparity, DDV will be the best player in the proposed trade.
Lol.... No he will not.
No one who knows the sport actually believes that.
Actually with DDV's massive defensive advantage it would only take DDV becoming a slightly above average 3 pt shooter to be more impactful. Looks like we'll have to take that gamble now
Oh... Are we still doing the advanced metrics thing? You happen to watch the playoffs?

Dead serious, can we please renegotiate the Jrue deal to get Josh Hart also? It doesn't magically solve this, but I'd feel so much better than standing pat. Josh Hart is a wonderful role player and can play 2 spots off the bench.

It's a pretty big deal to back out of an agreement. Morris and his agent split because the agent wanted him to honor the contract with the spurs. Is this relevant? IDK but any chance to point out how big of a tool Marcus Morris is I shoot my shot.

I've liked both of them for a while. Yes Bogdan would've helped us more in last years playoffs, but you can't just ignore an entire side of the ball. The gap between what Bogdon gives you on defense vs Donte is massive. With incremental offensive improvements I could definitely see Donte being better than Bogdon down the road, I was saying as much when we thought the deal was going down. Also didn't help Donte had to play with Bledsoe and bubble Hill in last years playoffs, Jrue should help him

Yeah. I remember him being our best player in the closeout game. Small sample size is small sample size.

So you're admitting that you're drawing all your conclusions about DDV as a playoff player from his first appearance in the playoffs at age 23 in basically his rookie season when nearly everyone ahead of him in the rotation was falling apart? Thanks for sparing us from wasting our time trying to have a reasonable conversation with you about this.

To be fair to Donte, last year was his first full year playing for us. I'm not going to discount the fact that he can get better with another season of development - especially in the playoffs.

I know everyone thinks this boondoggle is the most Bucks thing of all time, but wouldn't an even more Bucks thing of all time be to try and trade Donte and end up getting stuck with him and he takes a third year leap to an all-star level?

Remember how the following year the Hawks wanted Huerter and called the Bucks to trade up so they could secure him...offering more picks later in the draft...but then it was leaked that the Bucks were going to take DDV....so the Hawks jhust hung up and waited it out?
Remember when they then named Alex Senior VP of the Bucks even though he has never had experience running a sports franchise and just apprenticed for a few years?
This whole thing is nothing more than an expensive toy to these billionaires...and they'll make a handsome profit when they sell it. Would probably be best for us all to detach a bit.
I mean, I have no problem with Alex Lasry being on the business side of it, as his title says "VP of Strategic Marketing and Business Operations". But wtf is he doing in the F.O. meetings? Like whats next are we going to have the community relations guy in the meeting, head of ticket sales, the dude who plays bango? This is ridiculous - this is worse than meddling - he (willing or not) is undermining our front office, which is the hallmark of a poorly run organization
FWIW I think I would trust Bango more

I just hope he'll be cool coming back here. I know it's a business, but I'm sure he's still hurt. He wouldn't have liked those tweets about the bench if he wasn't.

The agent didn’t just back out for no reason. Bucks and Kings agreed to a trade that would’ve resulted in Bogs losing 15-20M. That’s a much bigger deal than the agent backing out. Just follow the money, if people are mad at the agent, they should be mad at the Bucks and Kings for screwing over Bogs

I just need to know what exactly happened. Not that it will make me feel better or worse. I just need to know.
Same, this whole situation doesn't make much sense to me still, sounds like Bogs agent is a scumbag and will prob have trouble finding future clients after his now obvious history. Sounds like both orgs got played so Bogs could get a few mil more.
I'm trying to rationalize that DDV/MLE player is really not much worse than Bogs in all reality. We're not screwed yet
The concern is that the plan was Bogs/Taxpayer MLE player vs Donte/Full MLE

He better suck it up or he'll cost himself a lot of money. Will be hard to think about the team wanting to trade you if the team is winning and he's playing well

I hope he doesn't see it as 'the team wants to trade him'. I'm sure they didn't want to give him up, it's just the way it is especially when you're light on assets.

The assumption is Boggie agreed to the deal. Not sure how this is different than Morris verbally agreeing to the Spurs offer (which was outside the legal period) and then backing out when he realized the Knicks were willing to offer more. Everyone hated Morris for that move and it was so egregious that Rich paul split with him. Yeah some team might have come back and offered more money but a verbal agreement is rock solid in the nba and agents reputations are destroyed for breaking it.
