Hayward was pretty good for the Celtics. Losing a guy who can get you 18ppg with good %s is a big blow and not easily replaceable.

If not, then Ben Simmons would have averaged more than 16 a game.

Until they play 1 minute, we can argue they are

They also kept open the possibility of a sign and trade with Gallo. So the deal is a huge win. Otherwise they would have had to renounce all FA (wouldn't have the cap space) after the Horford deal.

People on the general board who are criticizing the deal have no clue what they are talking about. Interesting to see what Presti next couple moves are because they probably involve first moving Gallo with a sign and trade. We should be all over trading for Gallo if we can

In other news we have never heard before the Thunder add a protected first rounder for Kelly Oubre Jr. because Presti wants all the picks.

Chris Paul is the only player in that group that can rival the complete all-around game of both Fox and Haliburton and he's like 36 years old and on the path to retirement. Chris Paul is actually in a worse backcourt this year with Devin Booker than he was last year with the superior Shai Alexander.

Dame and C.J. can giggle all they want, until they get a defensive stop, they'll just be known for their scoring production and capped team success.

There’s rumors of Hayward signing a 3 year $70M with the knicks

Wow, surprising he'd take so little after giving up $34M this season. That means he didn't think he would get 2 yrs / $36M next offseason???

Perhaps he's extremely concerned about injury risk.

He probably also doesn’t want to be in the last year of his deal and Ainge use his expiring to trade him somewhere he doesn’t want to go.

Boston just traded Desmond Bane to dump Kanter and clear cap space...presumably to sign Christian Wood?

I think they have $26M in space once Hayward walks. So if they sign Wood for $13, they should have around $13M left to sign another wing, PG, or big. Maybe bring Baynes back?

Without Hayward and Kanter they are just below the salary cap. They definitely do not have anywhere near $26M

My bad, that was $26M below the tax line. But they would only have a small amt of cap room as you say, plus the full Room MLE. So no way they could get both Wood and Baynes. Not likely they could get Wood at all as he should get more than the RMLE.

Unless they do some creative shenanigans with sign and trades re: Hayward.

Presumably they’d get Turner or Oladipo back if this happened.
