I don't mind that. The question is... why spend 3 seconds and a 1st on addressing backup C in the draft then?
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Because despite what some (in the Jazz organization) apparently think, a rookie isn't ready to be a defensive difference maker, even off the bench for 12 minutes a night?

The pick is questionable, not the signing.

It looks like Clarkson is back at 4yr 52 mil. This Favors talk better not happen. He is the last player we need after drafting Udoka.

So... we didn't give up a 1st and 3 seconds to address backup center. We gave them up to address 3d string center. Amazing!

Welp. Favors back to Utah 3 years $30 million confirmed. So there is the backup center.

What in the hell are the jazz doing? Why would you draft a center and then sign another center. We have already seen the Favors experiment at pf and it was ugly. Maybe this means a Gobert trade is coming.

Completely agree with you there......

$13 mil a year for Clarkson is exactly what I expected...... I think it works well for both parties.......

Considering Favors is literally my favorite Jazz player of all time, I'm a happy camper...... The fit, is a question for another time......

This is the only thing that makes any sort of sense when paired with everything else this FO did this 'summer', but at the same time... it makes no sense at all on it's own... so...I'm more willing to believe they are stupid enough to draft a useless player who will sit for 3 years rather than they will get rid off our best player.

I would love to add Jackson. He has shown enough flashes that he is well worth a look at his age.stitches wrote:
Frank Jackson anybody?
I have no idea why we wouldn't give him Mudiay's place... or JWFs place... or NWG's place?

Re: Future Free Agent Thread, Part 2
Well, about what I expected and hoped for. Also gives the jazz room to move Gobert if he gets upset about us not giving him a max contract. I personally think both of these signings are great.
Guys.....we just combined our defense from two years ago with our offense from last year. Didn't we have the number one defense two years ago and one of the best offenses last year? I know that's obviously an ideal outcome and we aren't going to be number one in both. But, it's a real possibility we are top five in both. That is a championship level team. And both guys signed fast and wanted to be here. That is a good sign to me.
Plus we all get to recycle our Favors jerseys!

Re: Future Free Agent Thread, Part 2
I love Favors more than most here and I've defended him to death, but this makes no sense! WTF is going on? Why would you draft a center and then sign Favors to 3 year contract? This makes no sense! Is Azubuike going to play in the G-League for 3 years now? WTF just happened? The only thing that would make this even remotely reasonable is if we are preparing to trade or lose Rudy in FA? But then this FO would be even more stupid than if they just spent a 1st round pick on a player who won't see the floor for 3 years.

Re: Future Free Agent Thread, Part 2
Sorry but you are delusional. The jazz were clearly not a top 5 offense when it really mattered and our perimeter defense was the worst in the league. Adding Favors once again hurts our offense when playing with Gobert and we have a complete inability to play 5 out and really open up the floor for Mitchell.Daddy 801 wrote:Well, about what I expected and hoped for. Re: Future Free Agent Thread, Part 2
The worst part is that Udoka is actually ready to play now. We didn't draft some 19yr old kid that needs to develop his game and body. He is a 4yr senior that actually is ready to play.stitches wrote:I love Favors more than most here and I've defended him to death, but this makes no sense! WTF is going on?
