They could always fold it into the MLE later or figure out what order they want to do things if they wish to avoid the hard cap that using the BAE would cause.

1 year deals are so odd, Lakers don't have much cap in 2021.

Why not just go with 2 year BAE with team option so at least you have choice of salary ballast next season for trades. This is what Miami is doing.

How many centers does Detroit need? They drafted Stewart, traded for Dedmon and Bradley, and have Blake (who can play small-ball center).
