I was reading earlier that we had 11 mill in cap space, + could open up 15 mill from from stretching Dedmon and Mcgruder.
Including this deal means we would then have 3 mill in cap + the potential 15 mill from stretching.
I guess we could still fit the Wood S&T from this amount ?

And I was laughing at the Meyers Leonard deal. At least that deal is a 1 year with a team option for year 2. Hope this deal at least has a team option for year 3.

Sorry Weaver, don’t think I can defend this one.

Re: Mason Plumlee 3/25
This has to be a future forward move that will make more sense within the context of what happens in the future. As it stands, it seems a touch pricey for a man of this skill set.

This is DISGUSTING. I just came crashing down from the high of the draft.

Hoping. I can’t figure out the logic.

I’m not sure what the context would be that makes doing this deal better than simply not doing it.

Re: Mason Plumlee 3/25
I love Mason Plumlee. He's probably wasted here, but I love his game. Tireless worker. Rodman-like energy. Great pick-n-roller. Will gladly run around setting 4 or 5 screens per set if you want him to. Good passer in transition and otherwise, tough defender/garbage man. He doesn't shoot and sucks at free throws, but is great at everything else. If Mason Plumlee took over Andre Drummond's body, he'd be a sure-fire hall of famer. Ask Dame Lillard about Plumlee. He loves him.
All of that being said, it's a curious marriage for both parties.

He’s a back up center. Given Meyers Leonard’s 2 yr/$20 mm deal, I guess this is now the going rate for back up centers. Sigh.

Re: Mason Plumlee 3/25
Hopefully, the last year is unguaranteed or at least a team option.
This signing has no upside whatsoever. Mason is 30 years old and plateaued long ago. All he is gonna do is eat up minutes that Stewart could be playing.

At least Meyers shoots threes.
This is a bummer. No putting a bow on it. First major misstep in my mind.

Re: Mason Plumlee 3/25
Utterly confusing contract.
Honestly, all this praise for Weaver but a lot of the moves have been headscratchers. The Nets/Clippers trade, the Brown trade, the Stewart pick, the Dedmon trade (for now) and now this signing. I'm sure there will be moves to come to make sense of this but as of now, I'm confused.

Re: Mason Plumlee 3/25
Yeah I'm really at a loss here. Maybe Plumlee is a high character guy and Weaver wants all the youngs to play as much as possible and he is there as a back up and mentor. This move makes a ton of sense if Weaver plans on sucking for a few years to garner high draft picks, and get better that way.Snakebites wrote:zeebneeb wrote:This has to be a future forward move that will make more sense within the context of what happens in the future. Clean slate move I guess. I just can't figure it.

Re: Mason Plumlee 3/25
It seems we overpaid but at least he's accustomed to only playing 15 minutes or so. Plenty minutes for the young bigs.
That's the best thing I can come up with. It smells of a rookie GM to me.
