THE J0KER wrote:So you think we don't need improvement because we reached the conference final this season? In the 2019 conference finals played Toronto and Milwaukee, Golden State and Portland. Any of these teams don't have a notable roster improvement last summer, and all four fall to repeat success in 2020. Did you note how big was the impact of our only "win now" trade move 2019FRP for Grant?

Not what I said, was it ?? If we don't sign Grant that is a point of regression, but that hasn't happened yet. My point is that you want to praise other teams to show that you seem to think these will all make them better than the Nuggets. My point is that, until it PROVES they have indeed improved, they are just transactions that may or may not improve the team. These transactions, while seemingly significant, could just as well implode on a team, let's judge after we see the results. And in my estimation, we just had a draft that will improve this team and we are just entering Free Agency so you're jumping the gun IMO.

I'm not convinced the Lakers or Clippers are as good right now as they were last year.

The Mavericks & Jazz look to be about the same as last year.

The Rockets & Thunder look to be worse than last year.

Portland looks like they are the only team that made significant improvement over last year - so far.

It's too early to know for sure what teams will look like though. Free agency will show us how teams are doing.

It's not like I'm complaining about our whole roster, but just about one single missing piece which is not that hard to be solved with our assets, and if we solve it we will be TOP5 contenders this season, not dark horse again. I'm happy with 4 out of 5 of our starters (if we sign Grant), and I'm already happy with our bench. We have problems with our 2nd guard starter (Harris or Barton whoever, one lost his offense and the other one is a bad fit). I actually agree that so far out of playoff level teams on the West only Portland significantly improved (plus Phoenix and Minnesota improved into playoff level), but the FA market starting today, just look at Lakers, Clippers, Dallas and GSW moves. Warriors are one of the TOP contenders just a week ago, but they lose their 2nd best player. But they need just a few hours to find a replacement for him (Oubre is not an all-star, but still a very decent starter). Celtics and Sixers already get rid of their worst contracts...

From what I've read, he could take it on, but I doubt he would - unless it was for a very serious and elite contender.

That seems like a lot of money for Clarkson.

Utah seems happy with their current and even former roster.
(Portland makes a similar move with Kanter comeback via trade)

Favors for the MLE is a steal for the Jazz, and Favors with Gobert has a history of being a problem for Jokic.

The Oubre trade seems like a panic trade resulting from Klay's injury, he's not a true difference-maker IMO. And no way Kroenke would do that, he's afraid of the Luxury Tax

This is a guy coming off an achilles. I know they desperately need a SF, but wow that is a lot of money.

The Lakers must not have offered him a deal, to leave the Lakers for the 76ers on the minimum is a weird move otherwise. Howard played a big role with them, so they must be getting someone else to be their center.

Edited to add the 2nd tweet. Non-guaranteed deal, why the hell were we not calling him? Just to keep him away from Jokic we should have been calling him.

But he's starting for a playoff team, close to what Plumlee got

I would have taken that deal for Wood, even if he was our main backup Center.

But he'll start in HOU, sure that's an important part of it.

Wiz sign Davis Bertans 5/80, wonder where that puts Troy Brown Jr on the depth chart ??

Not in this case, because depending on opponents, the LA Lakers can instantly swap the PF and C roles of Harrell and Davis.

Harrell is terrible against Jokic, Howard was obviously a huge problem for Jokic, Jokic actually played Davis well when matched on each other, I think this is good for us.

So Toronto is facing the same situation as Denver, losing a key power forward. I see now why Denver moved so quickly to pick up Green.
