Re: Shams: Wall wants to be traded
Did the trade talk leak hurt Wall's feelings? That was legitimately the first time in his career he was in trade talks. Either way, it breaks my heart, bad contract, and all. Would've liked to see him run it back and finish his career here.

Re: Shams: Wall wants to be traded
Bad contract, not very good player, coming off devastating injury, bad video comes out, it’s time to move on, it’s the right move.
And still, this is extremely disheartening. Wall is the reason I am a wizards fan. What a terrible ending.

Re: Shams: Wall wants to be traded
Shep has to smooth things over ASAP and keep Wall here. Not because I necessarily want to keep Wall (although that would be nice), but because I don't want to part with the young talent and/or pick we'd have to give up to move him.
Always remember, my friend: the world will change again. And you may have to come back through everywhere you've been.

The question now is what came first, the chicken or the egg?
Did Wall always want out leading to the Westbrook inquiries, or is this John's reaction to those rumors?
The difference is important because I'd argue this entire draft and even these free agent signings might have been handled differently with the knowledge that John wanted out.

And this is the difference between a primadonna (Wall) and a mature human being (Beal). Both their names have been circulating. One demands a trade, the other took it as a sign of respect. No wonder teams want Beal.

I believe it was the trade rumors plus Tommy mentioning whenever he can that we're building around Brad....
President Donald Trump referred to African countries, Haiti and El Salvador as "shithole" nations during a meeting Thursday and asked why the U.S. can't have more immigrants from Norway.

Well it’s not the same. Wall was bad before a devastating Achilles injury and is 3 years older than Beal and is throwing up gang signs while hammered in videos.

Nope. There's a difference.
It seems like Washington was engaged in trade talks about Wall.
Seems like Beal just had teams inquiring.

I'm certain Beal would still have the same reaction. This is a business. Wall takes things too personally. He has always been immature but this just brings it all to light.

Regardless of who's fault it is or isn't, I don't see how Brad doesn't look to follow him out of the door.

I'm not offended that he's offended, and I do want the organization to be professional and communicate with players. That said, the old guard (Pollin/Grunfeld) seemed to prefer loyalty to functional organizational effectiveness. I don't mind that the new look FO may not.

I think you'd be surprised how Brad would react...

Re: Shams: Wall wants to be traded
Now there is a chance that Wall will be attached to an asset to be moved. Maybe a 1st + Wall for Westbrook is realistic now. Anything to keep Beal satisfied. Teams have done a lot of stupid and uncharacteristic stuff to appease a star (Harden asking for Westbrook). Mortgaging futures is unavoidable at times. Let's hope Tommy can remedy the situation so we don't have to give up something to move off Wall.

Well the key is to communicate and actually get Beal's blessing prior to doing this, and not just doing it and praying it keeps him around.

That’s exactly what happened. That and Tommy saying last week that we’re building around Beal apparently didn’t sit well with him.
Get a grip John. It’s a business and you haven’t played in 2 years.

Re: Shams: Wall wants to be traded
None of this is on John Wall. Not in any way. It's 100% on Tommy Sheppard.
It's his JOB to make sure that we don't get 50 cents on the dollar if we trade Wall. It's his JOB to make sure he doesn't come off as having soured on someone whom he then has to trade.
Worse yet, if the only guy we can trade for is Westbrook, & we have to give something along with Wall... you can count this team out for the next 5 years.
So much for "building around Bradley Beal" -- it'd make more sense to say we are tearing it down around Brad.

Re: Shams: Wall wants to be traded
There should be no rush in trading him now.
I’d force him to play for the first quarter of the season to showcase his value.
