i feel you but man.... i'm at the point where if its veteran leadership at the cost of awful production or completely unreasonable contracts, why not just get that out of an assistant *coach*?
That's what coaches are for. We can get embarrassing on the court products from all these second round picks we have to develop. If we need a voice in the locker room or bench then just give a guy like Marv or Vince a tie instead of wasting a roster spot, cap space, and playing time for someone who has a chance of getting better
If more players transitioned to coaching right after retiring I'd be all for that. They usually don't though, and I think there's value in having a likely future hall of famer suiting up with you every game.
