We have 72 games this year. Clifford is going to find away to grind out 34 wins.

No offense, but I feel like I hear this same stuff every offseason and trade deadline since WeltHam took over. How many years do we need to wait until it’s the right time to do something? The Lakers just won the title and are agressively improving their roster while our FO sits on their hands. I wish we had Daryl Morey, he gets things down and addresses needs. Look how he loaded up on shooters for Philly while our FO continues to grab players who can’t shoot.

You think that's bad? Try waking up and seeing Vuc getting traded, then realizing that was a dream when you actually wake up.

You're all going to wake up when they announce that they've extended Evan.

Weltman and Hammond take over.

2017 roster-

Elfrid Payton
Evan Fournier
Terrance Ross
Aaron Gordon
Nikola Vucevic

2021 roster -

Markelle Fultz
Evan Fournier/Terrance Ross
Jonathan Isaac
Aaron Gordon
Nikola Vucevic

So in 4-5 years this FO has made two real decisions that have changed the starting lineup. Drafted Isaac and acquired Fultz.

These guys suck.

Think about this lol.....detroit made more moves in one night than this FO in their entire tenure....One of the big problems to me is ownership....they gave these dudes full autonomy to do whatever they want without any pressure....guess what that kind of environment can do a team? They came into our team in evaluation mode and 3 seasons in they're still in evaluation mode.....

We are basically paying two guys to just make a draft pick every year.

I’m frustrated too but the most important thing to making moves is making the right move. I’d rather them stay pat then what Hennigan did and trade 2 assets in Harris and Dipo for crap and set us back. Our roster has improved every year, we get more and more assets.

I wish they were more aggressive but it has to be the right move. Making a bad move or 2 sets us back a lot further then staying pat. While the players are mainly the same I do expect to see Fultz get a lot more of the playmaking duties which would allow Fournier to be in his best role off the ball, secondary playmaker.

I'm so jealous of the thunder

Their gm was smart enough to realize that the team was stuck and going nowhere, so what did he do? He literally traded away the entire and loaded up with like 20 1st round picks over the next 5 years.... Which just happen to be considered stacked drafts the next 2 years, with real SUPERSTARS.... That's how you do it!
But no, we have guys that are satisfied with 8th season, status quo, don't rock the boat mentality. Trade away cheap talent for future 2nd rounders and think that's a big move

These guy have done nothing in 4 off-seasons here except add a couple pieces to hennigans teams.

I'm thinking they didn't want to make moves to jeopardize the playoffs...they can sell playoffs to fans they can't sell a rebuild....problem is i don't know if we make the playoffs this upcoming season....teams that were injured are healthy now and for example washington? they got legitimate stars

That's literally it
I've never seen GMs do less than these guys.

They seriously spent 2 years "evaluating the roster" and since them the only things they have done is add fultz and Isaac, miss on a top 6 pick and draft a guy with a torn acl that would miss his whole rookie year.
Last year we were a playoff team, won a game in Toronto, and could of used some pieces to get over the hurdle and what did they do? They waste 27m on the worst players on the team aminu, and then draft a guy who plays a similar game that's going to miss the whole year. We could of made a push....instead they wasted a year for nothing

We're a 10th seed at best next year with all these team reloading and getting healthy

Agreed. And that’s before factoring in Isaac’s injury.

He also had stars to trade we don’t. Will he hit in the draft, that’s TBD. A lot of these picks are likely to be late. We’ve had picks 2, 4, 13, 5, 11, 6, 6 and look where that’s gotten us. There’s no guarantee with high picks. At some point you have to win some games.

With Minnesota and Golden State both improved, the 10 seed in the East could very well be the 5th or 6th pick.

There's no team in the West who appears to be awful on paper.

It really may not take much for the Magic to end up with a high draft pick.

There are three key methods for flipping the roster:

1) Draft
2) Free Agency
3) Trades

The draft completed and tonight was the initial rush for free agency.

Some teams have already explored trades.

We are going to have to see where the dust settles after the draft and free agency. Once teams miss out on their first options, we could find good offers for Evan and / or AG. These are not the premier targets teams line up for on opening night. We need to be patient.

I wouldn’t close the book on this off-season yet. It’s just the first night.

While this sounds nice to say, it’s still very annoying to watch another season of mediocre - bad basketball with a roster that makes no sense.

Well sure.

I'm just saying on paper right now, I can only confidently name five teams in the entire league that I think will definitely be worse than the Magic next year.

Maybe. The Magic will always go on a late stretch, win some games against sitting stars, surprise themselves, make casuals happy, and end up picking 6/7th in a 4 player draft.
