At 8 it was the right pick. At 4? Not so much. Folks that hate this pick at 8, need to look at the other players that were left at 8. It's not exactly a rogues gallery of greatness. You had a unproven high upside Euro that averaged 4ppg last season and a high floor low ceiling "point guard" that can't create his own shots and has choppy handles (the double kiss of death in the NBA for a starting PG). Those were your 2 main competing options. The Knicks were screwed the minute they dropped in the lottery selection process. They needed a top 3 slot, they ended up getting up rammed up the butthole. For a butthole pick, Toppin was excellent. Hate the basketball gods, maybe hate them for not trading down...but not this pick. They made the best choice of a bad situation.

"Right' is subjective. Hayes was right to me. But to the Knicks who else are they picking at 4? That was my point. From the Knicks perspective they got the same player th ey likely would have picked at 4. As far as OBI Im keeping an open mind, the kid could be special , I'm not so quick to elevate , Ball ,Wiseman and Edwards ahead of him. Lets see how it plays out... we may be pleasantly surprised.

I think we were pretty damn lucky he fell to us. And all because of a monumental fck up by Chicago. These things don't happen to us. Usually it is us f-ing up for other teams' benefit. Yeah he's a year older than you'd like, but he's arguably the best in the draft and will likely be the roy favorite. That's worth a year.

His age is not a detriment but an advantage. The reason so many draft picks are bust is because they leave school too early. Not everyone should be a one and done. Our best draft pick, Partick Ewing was about the same age and had a very good run for us. Just as you stated we were very lucky he fell to us.

Can someone sell me on why Deni was touted so high? He seems slow in the head from his interviews and he shot 50% from the FT line. What makes him so special that people were looking to take him top 4?

he’s an overrated knicks twitter darling. I can’t believe people are complaining about passing on him. There wasn’t a scenario in the world where where this new regime was drafting that kid as their first pick.

Memphis had a great draft entering it without a 1st rounder.... why didn't the Knicks go after this sweet shooting french speaking big man as a UFA?

So beasley scores 20ppg in a 14 game span and now all of a sudden hes worth big money???? Not to mention he did it on a sht Minnesota team. I dont get it. We shouldnt be signing any long term FA..

Play the young guys...Evaluate and develop...look to make signings/additions once we know wtf we have on our team.

I would have drafted Haliburton/Hampton, then would have loved to pick up Josh Hall or Tillie. Not a fan of the way our draft went but hopefully it works out. Ill be rooting for them no doubt. Welcome to the Knicks!

They should have kept Bolmaro and taken Quickley 33rd. He wasn't getting drafted earlier.

we didn't have the 33rd until they traded back from 23 to 25 and 33 so we couldn't have kept bolmaro
