Rubio/Ntilikina/DSJ
Hayward/Burk/Quickley
RJ/Knox /Bullock
Toppins/Iggy/Filler
Mitch/Filler

This would be ideal for me.

This team is a bottom feeder in the east.

Send picks for two years of $17milper Rubio? They should send picks to take him. He's aiight but I'd rather let the kids play. DSJ, Frank, Quickley and Powell.

Oh and the elephant in the room here is that DSJ and Frank are going to expire after this year if they don't get an extension. So if you don't do that you're basically pulling a Mudiay and wasting minutes and developing a PG that in all likelihood would walk in free agency like Mudiay did. We have to wait and see and if they are playing next season out as expiring contracts my desire to develop them further isn't very high

I'm going to let the coach do their thing, this is Thibs and if any success can be squeezed out of these players he'd be able to do it and if not they won't be here anymore.

It's not a waste to finally figure out if any of these few unfulfilled young players from the previous regimes can actually fill the potential. I think at least one of the 3 of Denny, Frank and Knox will be a Thibs guy, maybe two if the development staff is as good as advertised.

The facilitating may be more spread around, too, weren't people complaining that RJ couldn't handle the ball enough? I just see no reason to dump draft assets into a short term expensive old patch that blocks minutes from the youth. Rubio is not moving the needle so what's the point?

You aint wrong brother. Can people honestly look at the deals that were made today and say i truly wish Leon pilled the trigger on that? Seriously... i cant think of one bargain that was signed today. maybe Harrell? But hes an awful fit for the roster. Holiday? Hes over 30 and never been a needle mover. Even at a decent salary 3 years is a long time for a weak small forward who had 1 above average shooting season before 30....Knowing what i know now... Alec Burks for 1 year 6 million is the best we could have hoped for given what Detroit did...and the big fish and other value plays are still out there. I know people would laugh but getting KCP on a reasonable deal at this point could be a real steal right now and help our young guys out with another plus wing shooter/defender. Im excited that for once we held back and didnt splurge on bullchit. It's refreshing.

Maybe Thib’s back up plan is Kris Dunn. He loves Kris Dunn and defense.

FVV would be nice as a 3rd option.

Don't let no free agent use us to get more money from another team... if Hayward doesn't want our offer he can walk.

Wait...Memphis got in on a three way deal that netted them Desmond Bane on top of the draft day they had? They are stacking up some talented youth on that team, a sneaky good team in the very tough west next year. Wow

Right now the Knicks have the worst roster in the nba easily. They need to make some moves and salvage this off season.

Barring anything of a Westbrookian nature, I'm very pleased with the current Knicks organization thus far. There was not a single deal today that should make anyone feel left out. Since Rose is not shopping for the finishing touches on a contender, he's wise to sit back and see if anything opportunistic arises. Still a week to go so plenty of time for something to transpire

-what was the plan going into Wednesday and free agency?

Leon: The plan going into Wednesday and free agency was really to just soak it all in and just enjoy it as much as possible. You see, as an agent, I've been on the other side for a long time, all the abuse we agents take as GMs engage in their "fake hustle". This was my turn to try it out, see how the agents scurry about when I send out a rumor I'm interested in one of their players and their silly contracts. I mean - Chris Paul? Russell Westbrook? Really, I'm trading for Gordon Hayward? Who would believe that, right? Agents! That's who! Yeah and some fans I guess.

-was everyone on board with the plan?

Leon: I love how the question assumes there's a choice involved. What, you think Scott Perry is going to disagree? He's going to challenge me on ideas? He can't rock the boat in a contract year. Thibs thinks we're a playoff team this year - that's how out of touch with reality he is. So, yeah, everyone was on board, hahaha.

-did you execute the plan?

Leon: Like I said, I wanted to soak it in and have my fun. I definitely did that, still more to come though!

-is there a backup plan?

Leon: I wouldn't call it a backup plan, but you know how Anthony Davis hasn't re-signed yet? I'm going to float a story out there...ohhh it'll be fun, you're all going to go crazy for it!

Doesn't training camp start in a week?

 Spot on.

So, okay, at this point, I'd rather we just acquire as much young talent as possible and go with the youth. If we could sign a veteran PG, like DJ Augstin or even Jeff Teague, as a steady hand to help Thibs get Frank and DSJ on the right path, then I'd support that. Otherwise:

Mitch
RJ
Obi
Frank
DSJ
Knox
Burks
Taj
Quickley
Powell

WCS?
Augustin?

that wouldn't be a bad thing w/ how good the 2021 draft is

I think the worst teams right now (in no order) are: Knicks, Pistons, Hornets, and Thunder

This would actually be a nice result, but the Burcs signing unfortunate some terrible win now and be competitive signings are still looming. Hence my grim mood.

Although I would like to see the team be competitive, it's in the best interest of the team to tank another year.
Sign Kris Dunn (2 year, 12M), KCP (1 year, 10M), Bobby Portis (1 year, 6M) and dump off as many of the rental players for picks at the deadline.

Roster:
PG: Kris Dunn - Frank Ntilikina - Dennis Smith - Jared Harper (2-way)
SG: Kentavious Caldwell-Pope - Alec Burks - Immanuel Quickley
SF: RJ Barrett - Kevin Knox - Reggie Bullock
PF: Obi Toppin - Julius Randle - Ignas Brazdeikis
C: Mitchell Robinson - Bobby Portis - Ed Davis

Roster isn't quite as bad as OKC or Charlotte, but it's in the mix with Chicago, Cleveland, and Detroit. We should be somewhere in the top 6-8 worst teams next year and get a nice pick, while having a pretty solid defense and letting Barrett and Toppin develop as playmakers.
