Lakers...Deepest Team in the League Now?

Post#1 » by Pelly24 » Sat Nov 21, 2020 6:05 am

Discuss. They got two guys who could be second option scorers on most 7th or 8th seeds and Wes Mathews and could still get KCP and Marc Gasol and maybe keep avery bradley, possibly someone else, and they got Javale. If they get Gasol and keep KCP, is this the deepest team in the league?

yea they might be. Blazers stacking as well

Lillard/Simons
McCollum/Trent
Covington/Hood
Collins/Derrick Jones
Nurkic/Kanter

Very good 10 man rotation. And I hear they still want Melo too

Nope - they need a physical center with Howard gone and more shooting, also more wing defenders

Will see what other moves they make

Lakers won the Ship last year and this team is not sitting on their laurels. They have worked to get more athletic and younger. Offense should be much, much improved. Now Pelinka has to shore up the D.

Yes easily, typical Lebron and his bought teams. If he stayed long enough to win the organic way he would get a lot more respect from the league fan base.

The Lakers are killing it.

They're going to score more points than your team.

To me the Lakers will be worse. No Rondo, no Dwight. The replacements aren't as impactful.

The new Lakers are 2nd options on 7th and 8th seeds? I find that to be a huge stretch. Deeper maybe for the regular season, just plain worse for the playoffs.

If they sign Marc Gasol this obviously changes everything.

The problem is that "the organic way" means trusting your GM and owner, who you may not like, respect or trust, and then 15 years zooms by and you have no rings and no respect from the league fan base at all.

I have a feeling the Lakers will end up Aron Baynes too, especially if they don't get Gasol.

Very good...lmao. I'd say slightly above average at best. They have an A-tier player in Lillard, and a bunch of complementary guys outside of that. Not even close to being able to compete with the top teams.

Hmmm... Maybe. I think you're underselling Nurkic and CJ there. CJ is at least as good as Tobias, and Nurk is an upper echelon center. They also have what 4 players under 24? If ANY of those young players takes strides it takes Portland to top 6-8 team in the league IMO. Say Trent is what we saw for the last 40 games of last season, 3&D with some decent secondary ball-handling at times. Say Collins takes that step with fouling a bit less and hitting 36% of his 3 attempts (I think these are attainable)... Yea, that looks like a damn good rotation. The Blazers have a lot of fairly reasonable "ifs"... If a decent amount of them go right, they're much better than you're indicating.

Likely the same type of poster saying how we built the team like trash last off season.
