I'm down for Augustine. He had a down year last year, maybe its a bad sign for a 33 year old, but he has a lot of George Hill in him offensively.

Might be foolish with our wing situation but Ibaka on the full MLE is still a get for a contender too if that happens.

Not a fan of the Pat move. He’s an average 3 point shooter at best, has very little offensive versatility to his game, and been useless in the playoffs. And it’s a two year deal. We better have some better options ready to go.

I wouldn’t bother using the MLE on a big. Teams will blow their load and leave several playable bugs available for the minimum or BAE.

So correct me where I'm wrong, but we still could offer Sterling 3years 24-30M + DJ + DDV to land Bogdan right? Only Sterling's first year would be guaranteed. 8-10M + 7.5M for DJ + DDV would be enough. What is the problem with this thinking?
Bogdan is getting 4 from $60-72M from someone.

Are we unable to use the full MLE and BAE along with doing a Bogdan sign and trade?

If the Bucks actually know Bogdan is a moot point it’d be different than if there is still even a remote chance of it happening too.

I can't imagine Ibaka has to settle for the MLE after hitting 38.5% of his 3's last year, but that would be nice. I just assume Toronto ends up using Bird Rights to pay him and go for one more playoff run with Lowry.

The ranking of players is questionable, but this is actually a pretty good list...

Gimme Harkless and Baynes. I feel good about this team with those 2. Probably can't afford both though.

I'd rather have Harkless. There seems to more good bigs left than wings.

I think Sterling and Bogdan would both be BYC players, but I'm not positive. It's almost impossible to make a sign-and-trade work with both teams sending out a BYC player. It's hard enough with one in the deal.

The only problem is that we reportedly don’t want him anymore.

It is theoretically still possible though.

I will take Baynes as a backup C for sure, but I'm still hoping that all of this whatever going on with reworking the NOLA trade means that Josh Hart will be coming back our way.

I am going to speak this into existence.

Jrue/Augustin/White Jimmer
Hart/DDV/Anyone/Anyone Else/Pat
Middleton/Hart/Nwora
Giannis/???
Brook/Baynes

From my what I remember seeing Bogdan on the deal that was being presented forced us to pretty much only have around the tax payers MLE to spend, which is basically one Pat Connaughton.

Bucks could use a veteran backup stretch 4 like that Ersan fella.

I can't see how they would retain the full MLE with a Bogdan deal unless they trade Brook to the Kings. I assume Baddy is referring to the portion of the MLE that might be a left after the Bogdan deal, which probably wouldn't get you anyone better than Pat C anyway. I'm not sure about the BAE but I think it would be a question of being several million under the tax and having the option of using the BAE or what's left of the MLE but not both, because I'm pretty sure you can't use the BAE to go over the tax after acquiring Bogdan.

I know we’re all interested in what we do with the MLE and BAE, but is Giannis going to sign this weekend or what?

That could be but there was something about a hard cap after a sign-and-trade like that. The hard cap might rule out the tax MLE as well? Although I think the hard cap is the tax apron and not the actual tax threshold.

Hard cap is the apron and we could use the MLE to spend up until that but we also have to get up to 13 roster spots.

I feel like this is highlighting the brogdon debacle from last summer. If I remember correctly, we could have brought in the same guys last year and then just used bird rights to keep brogdon? We would have been in the tax, but I have to think
1. Brogdon is a good player that would help us and
2. His contract and ability would be a valuable trade chip at this point. - maybe brogdon could have been traded for bogdan straight up.

Ok.. quick lookup of that.. Bucks calculation would be 5M (50% sterling) + 7.5M = 12.5M out... x 125% = 15.6M in first year available for Bogi.
Sac calc would be 50% (15.6 * 50%) = 7.8M out and up to 7.8M * 150% in = 11.18M in. That seems to be the issue, a 3rd team would have to absorb some of that money coming in it seems (17.5M - 11.18M = 6.32M needs to be absorbed somewhere else).

Screwed up the Sac part coming in... edited. Seems like other players would need to be involved from Sac side.

Return to Milwaukee Bucks
