We already have:
3 projects (DSJ, Frank, Knox);
2 Developing young players with potential (Mitch, RJ); and now
3 rookies (Obi, Quickley, Powell)

That's not even including Iggy. We need players who can come in right away and contribute. Obi was the right move. Some of you want to draft someone like Deni based on hype, who would end up turning into the next Mario Hezonja.

RJ- first team all American and national player of the year.

Obi-first team all American and National player of the year

Yeah we got some bums who we should not be hype for. Y’all just want to tank forever. We will look decent this year.

And selling people on what?

they don't really need to sell anybody on anything, they're the Knicks + arenas will be empty/limited capacity

if they continue to avoid major signings its because of 2 things 1) weak FA class 2) strong 2021 draft

but if you need to be sold, how about this: right now, we're looking like a bottom 5 team, which would put us in position to land a very good pick. Obviously, getting #1 and Cade would be great, but the class is deep and there's BJ Boston, Jalen Green, and Ziaire Williams, etc. After getting 1, our young core would be very, very strong.

I think we're 1 draft away from the Knicks turning things around

Knicks are always 1 draft away from being....... 1 draft away. :nonono:

this time it's probably for real. RJ and Mitch look like core pieces, and Obi was 1 of the safer picks in the draft. add in a top 10 pick in a loaded 2021 (as well as 3 other picks that'll be in the top 40) and I like our chances

Most of these log jams are usually taken care of after the first wave of free agency. We are still in play to take on these salaries while getting back additional assets.

To the right deal yes. We don’t have a SF if RJ is not playing there. Knox is still a question Mark. You only sign guys if it makes sense. Not because you want to just throw money away.

It doesn’t make any sense for any deal if you want a rebuild. All he’s doing is taking away playing time from our youth.

Everyone knows Knox can’t be trusted. It’s like going into the season trusting Frank and Dsj at point guard. We will sign a vet at both positions.

Knox stinks dude. Let him earn it off the bench of he wants playing time. I'd be honestly shocked if he was still on the roster next offseason. If he shows out in better lineups off the bench or with Hayward at points then great you can trade Hayward or raise Knox's value enough to make him an actually attractive asset. If he sucks then at least we have Hayward who won't drag everyone else down with him like Knox has lol

RJ is going to be playing the 3 and Obi is the 4. Hayward plays both positions. I’d hate to bench one of them just to let Hayward chuck.

Randle can’t be on this team on opening night.

You can’t draft 22 year old Obi and have him coming off the bench.

You just cant.

Some people are talking as if tanking/ rebuilding is the definitive plan, I think the plan is to upgrade the roster with Hayward or FVV and then once those players have gone elsewhere than the plan would be to run back like last season 1 year vets and finish in the lottery. But to say the plan is tank/rebuild will happen after striking out, but it’s not their first priority

Knox is irrelevant cause he was always coming off the bench

He is a great compliment next to Trae.

Really like what Atl is doing. They look like a legit playoff team.

Hell no we not benching Obi or RJ. Makes 0 sense for us. Hay would play the 3 probably. Add shooting and another playmaker. For the right price like what was reported. 2 years bloated. Not no long term overpay. I thjnk eventually he goes home to Indy. He got mad kids.

As long as they don't force it like they did last year and audible their plans that is fine. If anything a good sign that they are flexible, if that is what happens.

I think you can start games sort of big with RJ/Hayward/Toppin/Mitch and sort of maneuver from there. Hayward played a lot of 3 last year and his net rating was through the roof as a 3. I believe he was +10 as a 3. Granted that had a lot of Tatum involved but even if you remove Tatum from those lineups he was still +4. He still has the chops to play on the wing and it helps take a lot of playmaking duty out of RJ's hands especially if the plan is to run Frank out there at PG.

Also Hayward at the 4 with Mitch at the 5 lineups are going to kill people.

Bledsoe a SG masquerading as a PG but still, statement applies.

Didn't Hill wind up on OKC?

Still 2.5 PG's, or 3, depending on how you feel about Bledsoe

This is fine. Just sign the 2 way vets or guys who can contribute to winning basketball. I’m still pissed pills didn’t take on salary dumps last year. Most of those salary dumps were way better than the guys we signed and there were picks
