Kings off season FA thread
I don't see an off season FA thread.
Put the rumors here, your FA ideas, etc.

Thoughts on Whiteside?
I mean Houston ran with Capela for a long time, and McNair obviously was in house in that era.
If we go that direction Holmes has positive value, so maybe a tinker there too?
Anyone like the Whiteside mix?

No interest in Whiteside. Not a very high IQ player.

Doesn't mean much, basic platitudes but still possible.
There’s mutual interest between free agent Kent Bazemore and the Sacramento Kings on a return. Bazemore is also expected to speak with multiple teams once free agency opens.

Do you find McNair having Capela back the day makes the Whiteside rumor any more believable?

Not really. Whiteside might just be a guy they think can be added for depth on a cheapish contract.blind prophet wrote:SactoKingsFan wrote:No interest in Whiteside. Not a very high IQ player.

Re: Kings off season FA thread
The second one may be why we have not heard a confirmation of him actually signing an offer sheet.
Could be that we called ATL and said “if you make him an offer, we are going to let it sit the full time up til one minute before and lock your money then match. Now let’s talk a S and T deal”.
See that’s one point of leverage here for the team who owns the QO rights for the player that people forget. There is a period of time where that money is locked to that offer and cannot be offered elsewhere. Meanwhile in a shortened FA period with less impact guys available, the market is drying up to fast to have that happen.
It’s not a ton of leverage, but it may be enough to encourage negotiation.

No not really.
They aren’t exactly the same player. HW is bigger and more traditional Center while CC moves without the ball and doesn’t need to park in the paint to be effective offensively with a pretty decent mid range jumper.
I look at CC as kind of like a Serge Ibaka type but not quite as freakishly athletic as Serge was when he was younger.

Might be going out in a limb here but has anyone heard anything at all about what the Pels are doing with Ingram?
I could see a scenario where they either 1) can be talked into a S & T because the price is too high or 2) don’t match for the same reason.
I would absolutely be willing to clear off whatever we can to throw a max offer and see if that would go. That would be an incredible young core.

Could also see a Bogi move there as he fits very well with what they are building and gives them shooting they are missing.

I will miss him in Sac, but I’m really excited about what he can do in Portland.

I would do my best to move Buddy or Barnes in the next 48 hours. If I can't find a trade partner I would probably let Bogi walk

Re: Kings off season FA thread
Assuming we don't match Bogi's offer sheet, our depth chart is looking like:
Fox/Joseph/Guy
Hield/Haliburton/Ramsey
Barnes/Jeffries/Woodard
Bagley/Bjelica
Holmes
I'd like to see us round out the roster with Rondae Hollis-Jefferson and Kyle O'Quinn. I could see both guys getting interest elsewhere but I think they'd fit into what it looks like we're trying to build. RHJ gives us a versatile defensive guy that would slot in as the 3rd PF, maybe some spot minutes at SF as well. KOQ gives us another hustle guy and good veteran presence behind Holmes.
