if leon rose is gonna be successful here, it's not gonna be by getting free agents. at least not initially. it's by drafting guys who become good nba players that other people miss. he needs to find that guy who everyone talks about and says "how did all these other teams pass on that guy". i don't know that he did that this year. he seemingly drafted based on familiarity and connections. there's nothing he did that seemed like he was taking a risk. we'll have to see how he did.

I don't know the answer to that, but I do know they appeared to reach for Quickley about 10-15 spots higher than people thought he would go, and did so without hesitation (they could have tried to trade back again and collect more assets, but just went with their guy to not risk losing him). It's going to be interesting to see how it plays out, but my goodness does it look like Quickley has a similar statistical profile to other Kentucky guards who had a suppressed draft value because of the UK system.

For FVF it comes down to whether he wants to stay where he is and run it back with the Raptors at the higher salary though maybe not an increased role right away or go to the Knicks at a similar salary but in the starting spot with the keys in his hands to lead the team in the bright lights of NYC.

Which will he pick? The comfortable or the challenge?

Be on a contender or be in the lottery?

joining the knicks would be the worst mistake of his life. more of him would be expected than he's capable of, as he would be the big free agent signing, and it's obvious he's gonna lose for years here.

That could be true and based on the past pretty likely... but is there any possibility that Thibs is the coach that finally stabilizes the culture on the court and gets the team playing consistently better?
