LOL, if Theis were on the market now he'd be getting a 60-70 mil deal from someone.

Terrible.. Huge L for Ainge. Just let the guy go and get something back. Move on. This is handcuffing us from signing other FA's.

I don't understand this thinking.

Wouldn't you want to get the most you possibly can for Hayward in return rather than just taking whatever the Pacers offer?

If we get fleeced by Indiana, that would give this crowd a chance to complain about Ainge again. Win-win.

I don’t want Danny to settle, but Turner/McDermott/future first seems like a fair deal.

Just take it, Danny.

You don't want the first born son? What if he turns out to be 7 feet tall?

I'm not saying don't negotiate. What I'm trying to get at is if you're holding out to make the deal marginally better and you're missing out on signing FA's I don't think waiting is worth it.

Ainge must know that Hayward only wants to go to Indiana. He’s willing to wait as long as it takes to get Oladipo or warren . Why would he want to make the Pacers a good team anyway? Taking Warren or Olapido makes them less of a threat.

Looks more likely Hayward will be resigning in Boston.

Neither Indy or Boston will budge

Does anyone know our salary cap situation with these latest moves? Do we have room to sign players outright without using the MLE, etc?

At the risk of pissing off probably the only team that so far has the patience to deal with Danny's BS and that can actually offer some value in return? No.

Not my first choice, but if McDermott is part of the deal, it’s not bad.

He is coming off a career year. He played about 20 minutes a game and averaged 10 points. He also shot 49% from the field and nearly 44% on 3s on 4 attempts her game.

I don’t know if we have room for him too play that much here, but he is another shooter. And a pretty good one.

Don't read too much into the non-update updates. No progress being made doesn't mean much as these things often are not very incremental. When general framework is agreed to and we're just waiting on one side to finally balk, nothing really happens...until it does.

Have faith.

You do but not at the risk of having a deal blow up and having him sign with another team with compensation. “Ainge being in on” is becoming a way too common phrase.

That's fair. The reality is that the Celtics have likely been negotiating with multiple free agents and something will happen sooner or later. It's not like everybody on the Celtics is listening in on an ongoing three-day-long phone call with Indiana. For all we know, we may already have verbal agreements with players that the media have no idea about.

maybe DA is not 'waiting' ??
maybe both sides are in such agreement on framework that they can watch 1st wave of FA pass before consummation as maybe a 3rd team emerges allowing for both Boston and Indy to increase their hauls ...

Why would you take players with negative value just to say you "got something" for Hayward?
