Raul Neto: 1 year deal

Post#1 » by TGW » Sat Nov 21, 2020 5:45 pm

Ehhh....so now we have Wall, Smith, Winston, Grant, and now Neto at point guard.

Weird signing.

He’s a good defender and a good shooter. Smart player, doesn’t turn it over. Averages 15&5 per36.

I would’ve been happier with giving Neto the full MLE than Lopez. Getting confused about having Wall, Winston, Smith and Neto. They are absolutely going to be making a big trade soon

Tommy went into the draft having already attempted to trade John and with the intention of doing-so apparently. So, Haliburton is on the board and was ranked right up-there with Deni and he didn't take him. I suppose you could coin-flip the pick of either that night, but the short-term decision was to build with Beal/Deni rather than Haliburton/Beal assuming that John is traded, we shall see.

To be fair, Haliburton wanted to play in SAC. That's what the draft experts were saying.

For what it's worth, reports are that Haliburton targeted the Kings. Like he refused to give teams medical information etc.

WTF? Having 4 point guards isn't any better than having 3. Save the roster spot to facilitate a future trade or waivers acquisition.

Didn't know that Haliburton wanted to go to SAC, SAC had their first good draft since......

I think this acquisition might mean that we are setting up some other trade involving Ish's salary as ballast.

I like the pick-up. Now trade Wall.

Givony was on Lowe’s podcast after the draft and said that Avdija’s team wanted him in DC as well. So you have a comparable talent at a position of need that wants to play for your team (and made that known to other teams in the top 10 according to Givony), a GM with an affinity for international talent and an owner obsessed with turning his organization into a global brand. Add all that up and you end up with a situation wherein Sheppard was clearly geeked for that specific player to drop to 9.

Maybe I'm looking at this wrong, but if I'm TBJ, I'm confused. Tommy said they wanted to try him at PG, and they just picked one and signed another. Is TBJ just an afterthought for the Wiz plans?

Maybe they're thinking about dealing Wall and moving TBJ to point?

Smith was pretty good this past season. Wouldn't be surprised if several teams were interested in him.

Yeah, it's definitely a potential trade chip at the Deadline. Trade him for some useless $7M expiring contract and extract a 2nd round pick in the process.
