Thank you for the title. 17 years as gm is impressive. But this is the straw that broke the camel's back. Unacceptable.

I wanted Ainge out before this, but now I'm dead set on it. What a wasted opportunity to have a starting caliber big that would've fit Brads system perfectly, all because you got cute. This team lost another big name star for NOTHING!

Again... unacceptable.

Not going to happen. He is Gm for life. He got lucky off one championship and is living off it. One trade that his friend/ex teammate helped him out with. I give him credit on the KG, Ray Allen trades. As well as drafting Jayson Tatum. Jaylen Brown call ball but he will never be a Star player.

How could he have gotten said big? Charlotte just beat any offer and they signed Hayward with capspace. Should Ainge have traded hayward last trade deadline? I guess in hindsight, sure. If someone can show me that Indiana was willing to match Charlotte's offer and then the stopping block was somehow Ainge not want to S&T, I'm ready for that.

Over reacting. There was no good deal. Better to have room under the tax line. Ainge did fine. Now if he can get someone who can contribute with the MLE. And Hayward's injury history made me worry about future breakdowns. Charlotte's gonna need a lot of luck. They can even possibly re-sign Wanamaker, although they gave up their right to match by not making a qualifying offer, Wanamaker is a free man and will sign where he wants, which may mean best offer.

It’s an overreaction but since the Tatum draft he’s been pretty poor. Not even addressing a terrible bench is inexcusable. It’s going to be hard to keep up with the rest of the East unless you get some significant jumps from young players.

Maybe people should pay less attention to dubious sources in the first place. Yeah, that includes the ones on this board. Now People assume that Ainge didn't take Turner etc.

With a good move the Celtics are a top 5 team in the NBA. Without one - they are top 10. I know we all have high standards (titles) but get off his case. Hayward opted out (his right), Hayward went for the biggest offer (his right). Oh - so let's fire Danny. Makes no sense.
None of you know what the offer was from Indiana but if Hayward could get $30 mill from Charlotte - that is too much salary to take back.

Lets see what Danny does next.

Before people tear into the OP for over-reacting. Let’s look at some facts (well, rumored sources reports):

Gordon was favoring destination over money.
Gordon wanted Indiana
Indiana wanted Gordon.
Indiana offered Danny a good package.

He waited. He wanted to get more. He thought he had time on his side.

Gordon and his wife and family didn’t want to wait anymore. That’s on Ainge.

He should be held accountable. I will give him the rest of the offseason though to see what he does. He might just have never liked Turner.

Reports from who? Why would Hayward give up 20 million dollars? Makes zero sense. Would you give up 20 million dollars to go live a few hours closer to your home for 4 years? It's not like he has to go live in Siberia, he can live in Charlotte and be the lead guy.

Either way they've gone Hayward's entire tenure in Boston without getting a single useful playoff minute from him. So no real net-loss. The offseason isn't even remotely over, there could still be trades, signings that change. It's not even clear to me that trading for Myles Turner and Dougie Buckets is better than just having the full MLE. I'd rather have Nerlens Noel on a one-year deal than have Myles Turner for instance. But I understand most think more highly of Turner than me.

Does not matter that Ainge, who runs the team, has wasted like 25 picks since he traded KG and PP, or that this is third year in a row he let another big FA walk, this team has no height, or that this teams has a G-league bench. Nothing is ever his fault.

lmao stars. Horford just got salary dumped, Kyrie missed half of his season, and Hayward provided zero playoff production to Boston in three years. And one of those stars leaving allowed the Celtics to sign Walker.

I'd have more sympathy for Danny if this hadn't happened with Horford last year. Literally the exact same situation. That doesn't even count Kyrie leaving for nothing, the draft misses, the bench issues, and not being able to surround the Big 3 with talent after 2008.

I appreciate what he's done but I'm out on Danny.
