Semi could make an All star leap this year so no worries.

Gordon wanted to go to the Pacers. When Charlotte turned up with their offer, it proved too good a deal to pass up, trumping returning to Indiana. Simple as that.
That is the sum of it. There was no S&T for Ainge to make with the Pacers with this Charlotte offer out there. Hayward was waiting to see if Indy would up their offer and they did not.
So then Ainge was dumb to agree to a extension. Also he wasn’t prepared for it. Either way this team is worse off with no way to replace his production.

I'll wait a bit to see what may or may not come via S&T. But in any event, Ainge mishandled this situation. The Memphis trade looks worse considering the team could use another option on the roster that might be a sharpshooter.

Can we at least wait and see what we are getting back before the melt down?

Yeah when you don't understand how this works you really aren't tbh
So....Boston would get the terrible Horford contract back. Why would this idea even be proposed?

You give hayward his 120 mil, come July it's already down to 90 and 3 years which in this nba is nothing
Horrible. Disgusting. Undefendable.
Dude you're **** INSANE if you think we should have given Hayward that contract. I guess I need to put you on my list of posters to never take seriously.
Note to Karalis and others:
Hayward did not have the final say in going to Charlotte, as they don't have enough cap space. They need help, and Ainge is going to comply. That's the frustration here. This isn't a team that had cash and just swooped in a grabbed Hayward and Hayward signed there freely as a FA. It can't go down like that.
Yup. It is incredible how people on here fail to grasp that.
Ainge bungled this no matter how hard his media cronies and the holy Ainge ball washing disciples try to downplay it.

Apparently we did not have the infamous "leverage" as it turns out.

We lost the moment hayward opted out. It's that simple.
Sure but what could Ainge do about it? Try to get him to opt and extend, he did that. Offer him an extension he did that at way too much money. Try to create S&T Ainge did that with IND. Now regroup and see if you can get a deal done with CHA. Or back away and see if CHA can actually free up the cap space.

We don't want anything from Charlotte so there's that.

Bingo. I know AInge will come on the radio and say "we were never close" and all that but I think this deal gets done if Ainge does not ask for Oladipo or Warren. Not only that this is the third year in a row that this team lost a big FA.
On top of that this team has has like 20 picks the last 4 drafts and he has just hit on Brown, Tatum and Smart. It is absurd how many wasted picks Ainge has had. This tea
Make all the excuses you want for Ainge but at some point, whether it is all his fault or not, it is time to move on from him.

Re: Trade Thread #7: The Tide is Turning, but still Myles to go
People are mad at Ainge that Hayward decided to go with the biggest offer instead of going to his hometown team. The sign and trade to Indy only worked if both Indy and Gordon were sold on it happening. There was no deal sign and trade deal with Indy when Hayward took the bag in Charlotte.
It's actually pretty simple. Not hard at all to understand quite frankly.
