It would be ideal to make it part of the horford deal even if it costs an extra second or something vs making a separate deal and sending zhaire, Scott, and a second. Then we can keep that package for an in season trade.
They should give him to us for free instead of holding him to ransom for a 2nd or two. Dump his $9.5M immediately for a TPE and buy some goodwill from his agent and the league by doing right for a veteran in his twilight years.

I wouldn't mind Elfrid Payton, at this point.

They are changing the trade to accomodate the Thunder - if we absorb a larger contract like Hill instead of Ferguson, that shouldn't cost us any more since it's being done for their benefit.
People have to stop putting out these ridiculous "Zhaire, Scott, Ferguson, + a 2nd" for ___ trade ideas out there. It's just pure homerism to think that anyone would want that collection of players for something as minimal as a 2nd round pick. If you think they have values as players, then there's no reason to trade them. If you consider them to be a salary dump garbage, it will take more than 2nd to unload them.

Terrible shooter, but he's a defensive menace with fantastic distributing abilities.
This Sixers team is stacked. I don't envision needing to shoot our way back into games from behind much. I think we'll need defensive pieces to protect leads and cruise to wins. Payton fits that description.

Re: Fixing the Mess Pt. 2 Sixers Offseason
I like Payton
Looks like Tobias is going to be the best bet for this team as a 3 level threat offensively, and pick/roll threat. Don't know why people want to trade him for nothing. The current makeup of this roster will help him shine too. How he played with Doc, is what could really unlock this team. Very intrigued if he can improve. Of course ultimately the success of this team and how people see Tobi's efficient 20, 7, 3 is on how much Ben improves and consistency of Joel
I would say Shake is number 2. I think Curry may be a bit better defensively than him right now (maybe not), and definitely shooter. But I'll be interested at who starts. Shake can really shoot the ball, if he improves his handles it could really unlock his game... as he's shown a propensity to get to the hoop, hit mid range and pass.
Also very interested to see what Thybulle role will be, or more so if it will l can increase.

Payton is a bit of process history since he was used to get our future first back from the Magic in the Dario trade.
In some ways he is a really poor man's Simmons as far as his game goes, I just wouldn't pay too much for it and would want the forward we pick up to be a capable shooter in that case. My biggest worry with Payton is not three point shooting, but FT shooting, just 57% last year.

If Rubio is the gold standard of that archetype, and Rondo and Ball are the mid-tier standard, Payton is the low-end of the spectrum. I still think the archetype is extremely valuable for playoff teams.
You need strong defensive guards that are natural facilitators.

God I hope we don't get Batum, I hate him. Old, constantly injured, and sucked at ever realizing his potential.
As much as Richardson was frustrating last season, he was injured so much as well. WE can't just pick up injured players, it'll affect us in the long run.

I have a sneaky suspision were are going for something big.
Also, maybe we get Rondo, not sure... but it's too quiet. Bogdan still hasn't been signed either...

Re: Fixing the Mess Pt. 2 Sixers Offseason
Never really liked Batum, always thought he was overrated. There's a fun novelty about a player his size that can shoot and pass like he could, but he was a neutral defender, at best, even in his prime and could never score off the dribble. Where's the real value in a player like that?

Scott, smith, thybulle, and korkmaz get us to 15.9 mil we could take in. With the 8 percent increases per year we could give bogdan 4/72. I wouldn’t love it giving up Matisse but it’s the only way to get there salary wise and bogdan would be lethal with Ben

Only other way is wait until December 8th and include Ferguson. I just can’t see us trading for someone that we can’t get the deal done before camp starts tbh

We can't do a sign and trade. So Bogdan ain't happening. Focus elsewhere.

Hmmm not sure I want to do it then, if we're trading Matisse needs to be for a star. Bogdan is an above average starter. Also, we will lose a lot of wing defense without Tisse, and we're really guard heavy now.
