Hopefully mostly when Booker or Paul sit they stagger them at all times and play Bridges next to one of them, and only use Payne and Carter in spot minutes. They have plenty to cover 3-4 even if Bridges moves down to SG next to Paul or Booker.

Knowing Monty though, he will put like 3 3rd string PGs out there for our bench until with like Saric and Jalen.

Like bring up Ty'Shon and play him (or Okobo if they keep him, which at this point, is probable), Payne, Carter and the two bigs. He seems to like that for whatever reason.

Crowder likely would have done better overall the next 3 years with 1 year at Miami and hitting FA next summer with all that cap space and a lot of the mid players this offseason to 2 and 3 year deals would be out of market...so he'd probably get like 2/30 if only 2 years and gotten $44 million over the next 3 years.

I still hope 3rd year is team option...anyone know about this yet?

I don’t understand why they even bothered with a 10M/yr deal for Leonard. He doesn’t even play and he sucks when he does. Should be a vet min player. Kaminsky type player.

Other than that deal, Heat are having a strong offseason.

Wild, isn't it? I suppose I must admit that fringe NBA player is certainly better than not an NBA player, which is what most SRPs turn out to be. Jalen Lecque wasn't even ready for the G League last season.

Lets sign and trade Baynes and Okobo for Ibaka. Toronto has to load up with some players.

Purely a trade chip. They lock in a $10 mil expiring to move at the deadline.

One thing I do like about the Crowder signing is it signals that our eyes are squarely on LeBron and Doncic, which is where I like to see them. What else is left for CP3 but the Finals and a Ring?

Well, we have enough roster spots for like 2 vets. The reason I think Okobo might be likely is because we are thin at both guard spots, he is only 23, and he has been with the team, knows them, and seems to practice in the gym a lot. I think it depends on how the players like him and if the coaches still think he had upside. He was far better than Payne in first two years and about equal in their careers so far, even though Payne was slightly better in years 3 and 4. No real reason to think he won't continue to improve, but at the same time, the new front office seems to give up on players who are not performing after or before 2 years (though some of these had character issues as well, which I don't think Okobo has at all).

Another thing is these cheap rookie contracts and players with upside are nice to have. If they don't pan out, so be it. If they make quite a bit for a rookie contract like Jackson, Bender and even Chriss, those add up, but a contract at less than $2 million at a position where you lack depth and a guy that will obviously only get better, no real need to let him go unless you absolutely need the roster spot.

Last I heard he was planning on signing with Brooklyn. They still have MLE I think.

I think Ayton at this point would probably get overwhelmed in the playoffs when intensity goes way up. Not that I think we even get to the WCF. I think best case scenario is we get a 5 seed or so and possibly advance (though it would be hard against someone like Denver or Dallas) but if we advance would likely get beaten handily by the Lakers or Clips or whoever the 1 seed is, barring major injuries.

I would take a Round 1 series win and a win or two in Round 2 right now

I’ll take making the playoffs and ending the 11 yr drought first.

Woke up and had to read through 20 something pages to finally get here.

So here's my take:

Its not the sexy pick, but a solid one. He is pretty much a younger PJ Tucker. Solid defender and can hit the 3. Lots of the things he does on the court doesnt show up on the stat sheet. One of those rare players that can play/cover 4 positions. 1 of the few PF's left in FA that i was good with us signing. Has lots of playoff experience. His worst seasons came from being on awful teams (CLE/MEM). With Cam at PF you get offense with passable defense. With Jae its the exact opposite, so i can see this being a bit of a timeshare situation and Monty being able to throw whoever he feels is right in due to the matchup for the night.

Now to turn the Crowder signing into a sign & trade with Baynes going back to Miami. We then keep the MLE and can sign another guy for 9.3 million.

Return to Phoenix Suns
