Terrific player. Didn’t work here and it was no ones fault. Bad luck.

He was appreciated in that he was paid nearly $90M dollars over three years to rehab his ankle and become a part-time player.

Anyone guessing the over/under on how many games Hayward plays in Charlotte next year? Remember that it is only a 72 game season.

Never connected with fans, never consistently played up to his abilities here, not a leader and in fact seemed pouty and whiny, got the sense he sort of resented the success of his teammates (especially the younger ones).

I didn't enjoy the Gordon Hayward experience at all so it's fitting it ended this way. I don't wish ill on anyone, but by signing in Charlotte he's already pretty much assured that his next 4 years are going to be about getting paid to toil in mediocrity. Later.

Horrible take...

We won't miss his contribution/production because most of the time he was injured and the team had to fight without him.

Goodluck in Charlotte, but can't accept how he **** us over like this. After all our FO kept their trust in him and never tried to shop him in the previous seasons. He just stabbed us in the back, like Al Horford. But who wouldnt for such a crazy deal. MJ was a great player, actually the greatest, but his player management skills are below average.

GL Gordon! I'm taking the money all day! His career is almost over, you take that money! He didn't give us much but I liked what he gave when healthy. It is what it is.

Amazing player who experienced the worst of lucks. Superb IQ, handles, court vision and shooting abilities. Too bad it didn't work.

Best wishes

I will say this. Us Celtics fans on the whole are 1000000 x classier than Jazz fans.

Those losers still not over Hayward and are trolling this board to see how we react.

Good Lord they are sad.It IS a business, all Hayward has ever done is honor his contracts, never "whine" or say I won't play here any more.

They still don't get it.I guess that is why they will never get anywhere. Losers across the board.

Go Celtics! Thank you Bulls for taking care of the 2 fluke Jazz years :)

Again, this is on Danny. We need to replace Danny & Brad IMO to win #18.

I’ll always be grateful for GH. He was a victim of circumstance.

- Staying in Utah, Miami, LA or Boston... he chose the least attractive destination

- Five minutes into a massive contract, he could have said “f it” and hung it up... but instead he went through a grueling rehab

- Playing through roster changes, egos and turmoil, he quietly always tried to contribute. Even if it meant being relegated as a bench player.

- Missing the birth of his first son to return to the dumbass bubble

I’m sorry that everybody is sad that we couldn’t return anything, but don’t let it taint what he worked for the past 3 seasons. At the end of the day, Charlotte bested anything IND could bring to the table and that’s that.

Goodbye and good luck. It's a shame it took such a hard left turn from the literal outset, but that's life. Nothing anyone can do about it.

I try to look on the brightest of bright sides and say at least he probably saved us from Kyrie. That injury threw us off course and put us on a totally different track after that first game. We ended up losing Kyrie, Horford and now Gordo, but had he stayed healthy Jaylen and/or Tatum could have been traded to support that ill fated trio (who knows).

It's a real shame he's walking for nothing, but I can't really blame him for that kind of money. I also don't blame Ainge for this because a) I don't think anyone saw him getting this kind of contract and b) there is no way I see Hayward leaving $20m on the table.

I have no idea what Charlotte is doing, but Hayward is making out like a bandit in a low pressure situation where he probably gets to take the final shot at the end of a game and be one of the faces of the franchise. I've always felt bad for Gordon after that gruesome injury (as bad as you can for an NBA player), but I think he's got an amazing set-up for the next 4 years. He can ring chase after he's made $250m plus.

My phone tried to auto correct Charlotte to chairlifts. I think that’s all you need to know about that franchise. Later Gordy.

Edit: tell scary terry we say hi

I'll say this about Hayward, he legitimately missed the birth of his first son to play with this team in the bubble on a still not 100% ankle - for that alone he earned my respect. Best of luck playing with Lamelo and Scary Terry, I'm sure they'll be easier to play with than Brown and Tatum.

I think a parting of ways was best for all parties, though, losing him for nothing certainly sucks. I was already a big fan of Hayward before the Celtics got him and watched most of the Jazz in 2017 as I just loved the way they played and he was an easy top 20 player that season and could have been putting up even bigger scoring numbers if he actually wanted to. Even as the clear cut guy there in 2017 he was still incredibly unselfish and team oriented. He could have easily been putting up 25ppg instead of 22 on the same efficiency if he had really wanted too. (as he showed in the playoffs) I still think he has a lot of left in the tank and being the main guy on the Hornets will allow him to show that. He's certainly not worth 30 million a year, but this is the Hornets and Michael Jordan so who knows wtf they are thinking. Aside from the fact that they were willing to give the most, I think Hayward is going to be playing with a chip on his shoulder and the Hornets basically allow him to display the best he has to offer as he's now the clear first option on that team.

If he can stay healthy, I think he'll easily have the best season he's had since 2017. 20-22ppg, 6rpg, 5apg. That's not superstar level, obviously, and not enough to really move the bar too much, but they could sneak into the playoffs if some other players improve and someone like LaMelo plays well. If nothing else, Hayward is a great guy to have around a young team like this as he's probably the most fundamentally polished wing in the league. He's a great guy to learn from. Tatum and Brown could have enjoyed that, too, but the devastating injury happened and everything just changed.

Hayward had a tragic career here. It makes me very sad how it ended.

I hope he does well in Charlotte, I have zero ill will for him
