I did not understand why we made the qualifying offer, but Craig is likely gone.

I hope the reason is previously planed Barton's trade.

Running out of roster room. Sounds like they liked Cancar better and needed some room on the roster for a Center.

Right now I have some feeling that after the draft our best offseason move will be a full-time contract with Bol Bol.

He is a very good defender, and we all know he has a lot more talent than he has ever used, maybe a year with our young guys will bring out something in him. Plus he always defends Jokic well, so I would prefer to keep him away from the Lakers.

If I am not mistaken, after Jamychal deal we only have 2M remaining from MLE, which is almost like a minimum deal. I don´t think that is enough to land WCS.

It must be a very young player for 2M maximum. I would love Harry Gilles.

I would've rather kept KDB than Cancar, I've never seen what the Nuggets saw in him.

Considering he is coming off a minimum contract and really did not do much in Dallas to earn a bigger contract, I doubt he does get more than a minimum deal.

Giles I think will get more than a minimum deal, I can see him signing somewhere for the BAE, which is about $3.6 million a year.

I don't know why you cannot see why Cancar is so intriguing. He is obviously taller, more skilled as in can dribble and pass, and from all reports was the best rookie defender in training camp last year. KBD is a hustle guy who really has not developed despite being force fed minutes in Minny, he is a bad defender, no handles, and poor shooter. Why keep KBD over Cancar?

WCS declined his PO with Dallas for 2.3M and now is going to sign with the Nuggets for 2M?? Let me say this is highly unlikely.

Regarding Cancar vs KBD, I also preferred KBD instead of Cancar, but one can be fired for free and the other is fully guaranteed. I watched a few Cancar´s games in Spain and he seemed to be nothing special (33% 3PT), I hope I am wrong.

$2.3 million is a minimum contract for a veteran.

Cancar is not fully guaranteed. Also for someone who thinks Millsap was the worst contract in the world, I will trust the front office who has built a conference finals team through their player evalutations.

Cancar is list at 6'8" as is KBD, not taller at all. I watched KBD in college and he was fluid, had the hustle, could shoot and played some defense, albeit against college players. I have not seen that from Cancar and he's been with the Nuggets for THREE years and hasn't shown much more than looking good in one training camp playing against scrubs and didn't see a lot from him in his Euro time. MIN was such a poorly coached team, hard to hold him accountable for his time there. And about his shooting, he shot 33% from 3pt range, Cancar shot 17%. Both need work but I'll stick with my choice, we'll see down the road.

3 years? Cancar has been in Denver for 1 year and is 2 years younger than KBD.

Cancar put up 16/6/3 on 58% TS% with good defense last year in the G league, so it is not like there is nothing to base the Nuggets decision on.

He was drafted by the Nuggets in 2017 so I presume they have been watching over his development. Also, who doesn't do better in the G league, NOBODY. I know I am displaying favoritism here but at least it's from what I have seen. As I stated, I could be wrong but ...and for the record, KBD is only 5mo older than Cancar.

I think the team looks okay

Murray / Morris
Harris / Dozier
MPJ / Barton
Green / Bol
Jokic / Millsap

It's the same group more or less minus Grant but we won't feel the effects when not playing the LA teams.

The way I see it, we lose a lot of experience and versatility on defense. But we have arguably become more skilled and have improved shooting.

I hope he does well for them.

ON another note anybody else spent the last 2 days shacking your head at the way everybody acts like Craig was an amazing defender and by far our best defender, when we all know that he was slightly above average?

Yeah, I think he's a willful defender, he always gives good effort but he was never a Michael Cooper/Bruce Bowens type in my mind. And his offense was so-so and inconsistent, seems that would be something he would make a conscience effort to improve and never did.

Nuggets getting cash and a $9.5M TPE in a S&T with Detroit for Grant. Could be an important piece down the road, that's a big TPE.

A good place for KBD to end up, he may turn into a player soon.

Looks like AK was the big Vonleh fan in the front office considering we chased him for over a year and now he signs in Chicago.

Other than the apparent AK love, kind of a strange signing to me, especially with their recent draft choice and all their other bigs. Maybe he just knew how to put a smooth polish on the benches.

Well we are just getting into trading season, usually the trades start flying a couple of weeks after free agency, and with the rumors that the Bulls want to move Carter jr, I could see them getting another backup C and using Carter JR in a package for a PG.

Return to Denver Nuggets
