Shotblocker wanted for the Mavs, what option is available?

Post#1 » by Darren » Sun Nov 22, 2020 12:22 am

Dwight Powell, Jalen Brunson, Boban Marjanovac and so on could be available the way the roster is constructed. After Burke and Barea re-signed, I expect Jalen's number as a Mavs is numbered. Jalen Brunson is playing well ahead of the draft position as an early 2nd rounder last season. I guess, the Mavs might actually explore options via trade instead of merely waiting for FA.

I don't see Dallas as being after a rim protector persay. I do think they want one more big, but my guess would be they want a spacer more than a shotblocker.

Don’t think we have any big plans.

Now that there’s no Millsap, Crowder, Grant, Wood, (etc)... I want to like offering Noel our MLE and then flipping

Brunson+Boban+ for some meh tweener like Melli but maybe not Melli?

or Brunson+Powell+Bey for Thad or something similar.

But we got Richardson. That was our move. It was a good one. Donnie is tired.

Sign Dedmon for cheap. Hopefully his elbow issue is behind him and he regains his shooting touch from 3.

pretty sure they want no part of Nerlens Noel again. I'd say Baynes if he doesn't go back to Boston. Maybe its just a returning WCS. I still have real Boogie Cousins fears as Cuban has been high on him for years.

Other than that yeah I think they are pretty much done unless something unexpected falls in their lap --Oladipo? Decide who the last 2-way guy is.

KP/Powell/Boban/FA
DFS/Maxi/Johnson
Richardson/Green/Bey(2-way)
THJ/Burke/Terry
Luka/Brunson/Barea

I'd sure love to find a consolation deal but it seems pretty clear that cap space 21 is the plan.

yeah he's the right type of player, but since he got mad in Sacramento because he didn't get the minutes he wanted not sure how he would feel about a bunch of DNP-CD's in Dallas?

Wow. That is a big slip on my part.

I forget I still like players that can never play for my team.

I'd like him back too, but Rick Carlisle I'm certain does not.

After seeing Maxi miss so many open shots in the playoffs, they need a stretch big.

Or just not guard Kawhi for 30 minutes a night. Not sure why you are going with the pinkyring narrative. He's not a knockdown shooter but he's good enough considering everything else he brings. But in the playoffs he was playing nearly 10 more mpg and almost all of them as a center guarding the best iso wing in the league--his legs are going to suffer and thus his shot.

I do think they need one more stretch big but as KP insurance not because Kleber isn't up to the task.

McGee is going to be paid $4,200,000.

Dallas has the cap space or a TPE to aborb him?

No. And they've had that experience. He's fine as a roll man on offense, but they are stuck with Dwight Powell already so he doesn't really do anything they need and the offense was just fine without Powell once he went down.

Knicks will likely make Nerlens Noel available at the trade deadline.

What about Bjelica ..? ... I think we're not done. Iwundu makes me think ...
that Green + (Thj)? Might be on the move ..
Or something crazy like..thj + Powell for K. Love ..

I love Bjelica, but there isn't a natural contract matching at this point. And I don't see Dallas trading Green because Iwundu. I think the idea of Iwundu is just more bodies hoping one of the other athletic wings can help defend besides Richardson/DFS.

Na, he was fine during the RS and in the playoffs the rims really just hated him to the max. I lost count how many in&out he had from downtown versus the Clippers. More than enough to push his percentage over 38%
