Similar to KP. Tall and talented but questionable just how good those skills really are.

So last night I tried to kill some time by brainstorming what could actually get Griffin's attention for Ingram.

This was my hypothesis. It sounds like you wouldn't even think about it. It didn't start any discussion outside of a single flat out no.

So as long as we're bored, what is the hypothetical Godfather offer to NOP for Ingram?

RJ Barrett
2021 Knicks 1st
2022 Knicks 1st
2023 Dallas 1st
2024 Knicks 1st

RJ & Zion reunite on the Pels, plus four picks in four consecutive drafts. Does that even get traction?

EDIT: Does this get the Wizards' attention for Beal?

Ingram is not that good to warrant all that. The pelicans barely even want him

Perfect fit for them.

Yes. Great organizations pass up Myles Turner for Tristan Thompson

Been reading the FA thread on the Celtic forum. At least we’re not the only fan base calling for the head of their GM

newyorker4ever wrote:Holy crap i can't believe so many of you are mad about bringing back Elf on a 1 year $5 mil deal. He wasn't even that bad, i mean he wasn't good either but for the crap he had to play with he really wasn't that bad. He had some bad games but mostly he wasn't horrible and it's one damn year.

This is gonna take time if you guys want this team built right and will take at least 1 or 2 more offseason just like this one to do this right. I don't know if the new front office guys will be able to keep themselves from going off the path of building this team the right way cause they'll have to be able to make it through all the talk on the outside from fans and the media of this being NYC and being the Knicks and how long they've been bad and everything else that comes with doing this the right way, but if they hit on their draft picks starting with Obi and the 2021 and 2022 draft then we'll have a team with some serious young talent and that's when things can start changing.

We'll have a team full of young talent that will be coming together and start winning games and that's when the bigger name players will start looking at the Knicks again. That's when we can use a young player or two and all the draft picks we have in that 2023 draft with our own 1st and the Dallas 1st and the 4 2nd round picks we have to package in deals for the star type players or just add star free agents to the young players we already have.

I don't think many are annoyed by Elfrid in general. I think people just don't understand what this signing helps with. Most definitely doesn't contribute to a rebuild. Let's think the situation through from a front office perspective:

Do you want to tank?
Yes ---> Then, don't get in the way of your drafted and/or most promising younger players (sound fair?)
No ---> proceed below...

Do impact players want to sign with your team?
No ---> Don't get in the way of your drafted and/or most promising younger players (assuming it did before, does this still sound fair?)
Yes ---> proceed below...

Do you have a plan to build that team with impact players?
No ---> Don't get in the way of your drafted and/or most promising younger players (assuming it did before, does this still sound fair?)
Yes ---> Execute on plan that illustrates the players aligned with that plan and the means to acquire them... Undoubtedly there are contingencies in said plan, but does Elfrid signing fit into any of that?

Assuming that makes some sense, I don't know how Payton signing makes sense.

It’s a one year deal not really a death sentence moving foward they this front office has really done anything crazy...yet so I don’t think it fair to call for peoples jobs yet

Not a death sentence for our team hopefully. Last season should have been a death sentence for Elfrid’s Knicks career though. Only player he cared about besides Randle was himself.

It really feels like this FO has been a bit unprepared for different scenarios. At pick 33, were there really no other players left to draft once you lost Vernon Carey and drafted Quickley? PGs getting signed left and right and your reaction is Elfrid?

I’m gonna assume we had a plan going into free agency until those crazy money deals started getting Tossed around lol I know we are over elf and he’s not the ideal PG for us at all But we also gotta stop acting like this is the worst thing ever cause it’s not

You mean to say we missed out on Bobby Portis?

Spoiler:
TBH, I thought we should've signed him to a one year deal but everyone here shot that one down quick.

He gets to play on a realistic contender, so good for him. His first half season was awful. But the second half was pretty reasonable. He can't play a lick of D, but he was pretty decent on the O end. So, yes, of any of the people to be re-signed on 1/2-3 pay he may have been a reasonable one.

He was frustrating to watch in the beginning of the season but, as you point out, he was looking like a solid bench piece, which is what he is. I understand about his defense but he would not have been a bad signing for the next 2 years. It's not like we need the cap space for anyone else. I feel the same about Dotson.

Wow. I honestly think RJ has a decent shot to be better than Ingram. Straight up. I don’t think Ingram is in this range I really don’t.

You have to wonder when Scott Perry is finally gonna look at himself and come to the realization that he's not good at this sheet.

Dude's inability to identify talent and to build a team is on another level.
