At 19 Wallace didnt look like 2002-2005 Wallace either. :D :D :D

We can all hope Stewart turns into a defensive nightmare. He already has a better offensive game than Wallace, but clearly most NBA players do.

I think Stewart has a lot of potential. He is going to be so damn strong at his size, with those long arms. He moves really well too.

Positives:

Hayes
Svi
Bey
Grant
Sekou
Stewart

Taking swings at Bradley, Okafor, Wright & Jackson.

Not having to stretch McGruder - is he the dude that played for the Heat or the injured guy LAC got? Another swing.

Having Plumlee, Blake, Rose around to "mentor" the kids.

We got significantly worse heading into what appears to be 2 loaded drafts

So many possible lottery tickets here. I'm happy with that, for a big reason.

Back to Back to Backs. Those will be things that every team is going to deal with. Lots of out of shape guys that have been smoking a lot of weed at the gentleman's club will not be ready for.

Other than Griffin and Drose, this is a young team with lots of energy.

Some of those tickets will hit.

----Wright, McGruder, one of them is playing some SG.

----Bey, Sekou, Musa, Stewart. That is a platoon of 6'9" guys with weird skill sets. But some of that will hit.

Those guys can get flipped to a team with a lot of injuries that needs bodies for those 5 games in 7 nights marathons. It would be surprise me if teams are legit f-ked by May. Imagine a 5 games in 7 night road trip, then a back to back to back when you get home. Some guys are out with Covid.

Detroit will have a bunch of team friendly contracts for you, with young guys that can handle all that nonsense.

I've watch tape and go back and forth. great offensive touch.

Pogo stick like legs... reminds me of rodman in that degree.

although something seems off. He seems a bit off balanced. Like his center of gravity is off.
that said he needs development. potential, but in need of development. It seems little guys can move him off the block as he always seems to be to high in the air and not planted.

Nothing negative, but observations. I dont' see ben wallace.

I remember when Orlando tried that but hired Doc Rivers and played like studs.
Atlanta pimped out. Gonna be tough in the east now even if we did improve.

Learning curve and growing pains.

If Josh has grown up, could be a stud. That was the only thing limiting him.

I like Killian and thought the Josh Jackson signing was a good move. The rest not positive for me so wont get into it.

I do think we got the best player in the draft in Killian Hayes so hopefully next year we can get in the top 2 or something and add star potential with a guy like Cade or Green. Honestly though the whole top 10 is loaded in next years draft but those two are at the top at the moment.

We just positively affected the lives of Mason Plumlee and Jerami Grant. As long as they manage their newfound riches properly, they have enough money to send their kids to private schools and the best universities, they'll never have to worry about having enough money for health care or retirement. I mean, what we did for them is huge and it can't be overstated. That is life-changing money. Kudos to Weaver and Gores for making dreams come true.
At the end of the day, it's not about wins and losses. Teamwork, fair play, and good sportsmanship make champions of us all.

Actually, Plumlee just took a 50% pay cut over his last contract.

In that case, let's have a bake sale for him. I've got dibs on brownies.

i like the draft class. hayes has a lot of potential, bey looks like he can be a solid all-around player. hopefully stewart turns into a solid energy big and saben lee looks like a really interesting second round project.

i also like that jerami grant gives us another tall/athletic wing player on the defensive end. the raps having OG anunoby and pascal siakam helps their defense a ton (and covers up their two PG lineups) because they have the size and athleticism to guard or at least switch onto any non-centers. grant gives us that option now along with bey, doumbouya and josh jackson (in theory).

The positive spin:

The Pistons finally have an unknown GM wih the guts to go full ****** to build his table image as clueless before the big deal involving Griffin. 20M/y for Jeremi Grant? I'm in! A couple of draft busts with offcourt issues? Sign 'em up! Break the bank for a Plumlee? Let's go for it! A declining vet or two at every position we drafted for? Hell yeah! Get rid of the big who had a breakout season from nowhere? Sayonara! Lock up a couple of million of cap space for players not on the roster for 5 years? Boom!

The team ending up with Griffin will never understand what hit them! Add to that an exciting draft!

I would like to thank everyone on this board for a very entertaining few days. I haven’t been able to post (long story), but I have been reading along and seeing everyone’s brains explode because of weavers craziness was great hahaha

Most people understand I’m a big ol homer, so I’m not in the doom and gloom crew after free agency.
We should still be a lottery team, we got solid (on paper) draft picks, we signed some high character FAs and we took a chance on some young guys that haven’t found their way in the league yet. It’s not all bad.
There’s no clear direction, so this season should be experimental and that should lead to a decent pick.

As for the individual moves, I’ll give it a go...

Draft- I wanted Hayes, so I’m happy with that. Didn’t know anything about the other guys, but I’ve liked what I’ve seen so far.

Grant- the deal is pretty rich, but he’s got great size, he’s versatile defensively and he seems to be a high character guy. I was secretly hoping to get him even though it doesn’t fit the traditional rebuild. I think he could play could play alongside sekou without too many issues.

Okafor- cheap as, why not?

Plumlee- harder to justify especially after stretching dedmon, but all signs point to him being a great locker room guy. That’ll help the youngens

Jackson- full of potential and seemed to turn it around in Memphis. Definitely worth a shot. Same can be said for the recently acquired smith.

I think that’s more than enough from me for now. Let’s see what else weaver has up his sleeve haha *grabs the popcorn*

We will likely have six 19-21 year old players on our roster, with four more either signing two way contracts or playing in the G League.

Lots of possible breakouts in that group. Watching them develop is something I look forward to.

Its possible that the Pistons average age is the youngest in the league.

Blake, DRose, Plumlee. Grant is 26?

The rest of the team are all young right?

The hate for the Plumlee signing has my mind scrabbled!

Dude got less than the MLE to come in, play 20-28 minutes and be the new Baynes in practice and in the locker room.

WTF is everyone whining about? Dude is here to be a pro and steady things while the kids learn.

Leadership = Blake, DRose and Plumlee.

Wannabe star = Grant

Everyone else is a child in the NBA and they'll hopefully grow together and push each other because for some of them (Wright, Smith, Musa, Jackson, Okafor) this just might be your last shot at this!

Posting it here in the positive thread where nobody is allowed to argue with you on Plumlee.

Well played.

It's going to be a war in practice. I would pay to watch them. Practicing hard against each other are going to make all of the young guys better.

Here’s a positive:

By stretching Smith, the Pistons don’t have to worry about food allergies in the team cafeteria.
