We didn't need the defensive version of Trezz. Need a capable offensive big that can play a little defense. I prefer a stretch big over one dimensional bigs off the bench. Zu is already the traditional big on the roster and will play more this year.

Exactly. Thompson would be solid, but think about this logically. We need a different archetype big to spell Zu. Ibaka, Bayes, Gasol make sense. Noel doesnt.
Plus, why would I want to go to the NBA? Duke players suck in the pros.

No birds on Reggie, most we can sign him for is 120% of his last salary, which does little to close the gap with Lou, Noah and Patton

We would need to send out $14 mil in order to make a deal work for Rozier, assuming we are under the tax at the completion of the trade.

And Lou/Patton/Noah/Jackson 120% doesn't quite get there, does it?

Because I'd love to have a bench trio of Rozier/Kennard/Ibaka.

Since Rozier makes less than $19.6 mil and if we end up under the tax after the deal, it's our outgoing salary + $5 mil to match salaries instead of 125%. 125% would be used if we go into the tax after the trade or if the incoming salary is more than $19.6 mil.

To answer your question, I doubt Reggie would be the piece added due to the sign and trade. However, assuming we end up under the tax after the deal, Lou, Fi, Patton, Noah would work. Issue is Noah and Patton aren't helping the Hornets, plus they are already going to be hard capped because of the Hayward sign and trade. So depending on their plans, that would complicated things unless they can reroute those guys elsewhere with us paying to do so.

Could we do cash consideration in addition to the trade because we got a rich owner?

Each team has around $5.6 mil they can send out in cash this year, but teams have a cap of receiving a total of $5.6 mil this year as well. So, yes, we could pay for those salaries, but would need to toss in a 2nd for it to be worthwhile for a team to waive those guys.

So if we do 5.6M, Noah, Patton's, and Lou, it should be enough to get rozier

Because we need to be within a certain percentage for the salary to match

Cash is just an add in, like a pick. Doesn't count towards salary matching. Theoretically, with Fi included, it works. Does Charlotte want Lou? I can't imagine Rozier will be happy with Melo taking the keys to the franchise. But do the Hornets give up him for Lou and Fi?

Do we have a trade exception of like 3.6M from a trade we did? Can we attached the trade exception into the deal?

I just don't want to give up Fi

Ugh.... Only person from that list I'd be okay with is Reggie. He was on fire from 3 during the playoffs.

Can't combine TPEs either. With Oturu, I think Fi is expendable.

I'm not sure Lou should change his role. I'd rather give some minutes to Mann or Coffey, tell them to focus less on scoring and more on passing, and see what happens. If one of them can carve out a role with consistent minutes, that might just have to do for now.

You can only accept players into trade exceptions.

Wonder what the contract details are. Now just need to add another good guard playmaker.

See the details in the above post, nice nice.
