Toronto's new center rotation is ... ?

Post#1 » by Yenrallik1111 » Sun Nov 22, 2020 5:49 am

The title pretty much speaks for itself. With reports Serge has agreed to be a clipper, and Marc more than likely not coming back. Who do the raptors try to bring in to fill the void?? Via free agency or trade.

Aron Baynes at 1 year 9m seems the most logical option.

If Gasol walks this is suddenly a problem. Baynes does seem the most obvious fit if he takes the MLE for one year. Maybe slip a couple small expirings and a good 2nd (or two crappy ones) to the Kings for Richaun Holmes.

On the real, I see them as a Dedmon destination. I could also see them calling the Kings about Bjelica and Holmes.

‘21 1st, Pat McCaw, and Stanley Johnson for Bjelica?

I don't understand what happened with Ibaka.

Why didn't the Raps just offer him 1/19 mill or something? Raps had his bird rights, aren't hard capped, and could really use his services.

I’m pretty sure the Kings will demand a 1st for Richaun. Even if it’s top-20 protected, that will probably be the demand.

I mean they can try. He's an expiring backup to a good team, so I doubt he pulls that. Maybe if you send back some of your own pile of 2nds?

I could see a happy medium being:

Holmes and least of SAC/MEM ‘21 2nd
Stanley Johnson and ‘21 1st

Pistons have only four centers rostered after stretch-releasing Dedmon. And one is a rookie, one is a young depth guy and the other is Jahlil Okafor. Only Mason Plumlee is a known value.

I wonder if the one year Tampa detour to play in a hockey arena without their home and practice facilities maybe makes it less appealing?

Masai will figure out something. Not exactly a tough position to fill out. Everyone wondered what the Celtics were gonna do with Horford leaving last year and they made out just fine.

A huge fail for Ujiri and Webster. The fact they had his Bird Rights and he signed for $19 million over 2 years is not a good look when they have zero depth.

Raps must want to maximize 2021 cap flexibility. Sign Whiteside to a 1 year deal....

I am feeling the same way, unless Ibaka just simply did not want to come back I do not know how a deal did not get done. he surely could have received a much bigger one year deal with the raptors. the options out there to fill the void are quite underwhelming. raptors better do something soon though.

what do people think of the raptors trying to target Horford?? I would need help trying to put together a deal, but if cap space and 2nds can get it done I would likely be on board. I know it likely makes the giannis hopes a no go. I have no hope in that plan anyway. sure would love to eat crow on that statement next summer though

Sign me up! JV was legit the most universally loved raptor in his time. He fits well with siakam and he an lowry had chemistry.

You’re right. My brain was still thinking the Pistons were getting all the posts.

Whiteside makes the most sense now. Baynes as well.

Maybe Cousins on a cheap prove yourself deal
