It was that second season. We wanted to keep cap for 2021.
Best of luck to Serge.

I mean just not having Doc on last year's team and obviously they get into the WCF. That's not the goal. All they can do is try to improve right?
Or tank for some good draft picks?
Okay, sorry. Have to do something to stay awake.
Love Ibaka on the roster. Great fit.
Looking at the above George pick bounty - Clips only gave 3 late picks plus SGA. The last two swaps will never happen. The other two are Miami picks we didn’t need that look to be very late anyway. George was a bargain if he does not bail next season.

Weird criticism. Same could be said for any non-Lakers WCF team, right?

Clips can now trade Zubac and Beverly (plus 4 seconds recently acquired) for a true $22M point guard that can actually start. Team is rounding into place and looking better than last season.

No, the Clippers grossly overpaid for PG13, there's no sugarcoating it. But everyone knew it was a package deal of PG13+Kawhi, so thats why the trigger was pulled. It's also why Clipper fans are **** bricks this offseason, if the Clippers have another failure of a season, then its highly likely that Kawhi and PG13 will bolt and leave LAC an utter wasteland owing all of those unprotected FRPs. Signing Serge Ibaka is a HUGE step in the right direction, a coupla more key signings to fill out their bench and LAC will be in great shape to hopefully win a chip and thus getting both Kawhi and PG13 to commit long term. THEN those traded picks will mostly be late.

Re: [SHAMS] Serge Ibaka agrees to deal with Clippers, 2yrs/19mil
So far what we know of Serge is that he was great at picking up the garbage points and rim protecting and getting blocks with OKC.
He was trash with Orlando and people thought he might be done as a player.
On the Raps, he found a leadership role and got some nice points off Lowry's playmaking with some outside shooting.
Should be interesting to see which iteration of Ibaka shows up for the Clippers, or if it'll be a completely different player than what we've seen so far.
Without the playmaking, it's entirely possible he ends up more like a hybrid between his OKC days and his Orlando days.

The comparison is Harrell. When you need a stop in the playoffs who are you taking?
Ive always said Harrell is much better defensively than people give him credit for. I'd take Harrell defensively against a perimeter oriented team vs Ibaka every time. For as much trouble as Harrell had in the playoffs defensively, Ibaka couldnt close games for the raps against the C's without being picked on by Kemba in the PnR. He's strong as an ox and is an above average rim protector, but he's far from good in the PnR. Slow plodding Gasol was better defensively than him, even last year. Gasol was just washed offensively where it didnt matter having the worse defensive guy on the floor.
This isnt hate. Ive been saying this on the Raps board for a while and ive been saying losing Ibaka wouldnt be the worst thing. It's Gasol losing it that's messed up the Raps
All that said, as a stretch big, Ibaka is great offensively. And he'll help out a lot on that end for the Clips
Harrell is targeted in the post-season too. Defensively when there is a game plan to exploit him, there's no way he's any better than Ibaka, and offensively he might produce, but he becomes a space clogger for the team there too. I like Harrell, like the fire, but the fit was tough on the Clippers in the playoffs, on both ends really.
You're acting like Trez is Andrea Bargnani Nobody targets Trez on defense; this didn't even happen in the playoffs. Trez's problem was that Doc Rivers is an awful coach who had him trying to guard Jokic. Trez is not the guy you need guarding elite offensive centers or being a rim protector. And no matter which stats you look at (d-pipm, drpm, d-raptor) Ibaka and Trez are similarly rated on defense.
In LAL Trez will be surrounded by LBJ, AD, McGee so he won't be forced into silly matchups that exploit his weaknesses on defense. In space and on the perimeter Trez is perfectly capable of being a solid defender.

So the same money has Harrell? I would have loved Ibaka on the Lakers. Ibaka can do a lot of the things Dwight did, but also can shoot 3s

I'm guessing that 2nd year made it tough for the Raps, plus Serge has interests outside of basketball, he's got his cooking show and does a lot of fashion shows as well. He'll be able to get a lot of celebs on his cooking show in LA and plenty of connections in the fashion industry as well. This move definitely helps his brand grow.
Wonder if the Lakers would've preferred him over Harrell if given the choice. Serge provides better spacing and has a lot of playoff experience.

And just like that the Clippers got way better than last year.
Ibaka >>> Harrell

Rick Carlisle was sending Boban on the court every time Harrell touched the floor. He was getting targeted and the Nuggets tried to sneak Jokic minutes on Harrell whenever they could

Rebounder? Zubac is still in the team, very healthy rebound rate
What are the chances we see some of Kabengele this year?
Depends if injuries hit. He should get all garbage minutes imo

That's not being targeted. Boban averaged 7 ppg vs. LAC in the playoffs. And Doc was stupid for having Harrell guard Jokic. On the Lakers neither of these things will happen because we have AD, McGee, and whatever other center we pick up.
Were teams continually putting Trez in the pick-and-roll? Were teams continually putting him in switches for cross-matches? No. Trez wasn't being targeted.

Why would you guys need Gasol?
Zubac is your starting C
Ibaka is the best backup big in the league now
Congrats Clips on this, really wanted him on the Lakers
Clips have so much spacing and not many weak defenders...
What do you think of Trez on LAL btw? I feel like the fit isn't too good
Will feast on bench units, especially in the reg season, but isn't he a pretty poor fit next to AD?
I can see him maybe being okay with AD, but for sure not with Bron and AD
Whatever position Gasol decides to play we still need a opposite big at PF or C. Patrick Pattern is vet depth. I can’t see the young guys getting into the 10-man rotation chance until a injury happens
Terrance Mann-Jayden Scrubb-Amir Coffey-Mfiondu Kabengel-Daniel Oturu are all young and need time to grow.
I would still look to prioritize a 3/D wing, whatever compliments Ibaka, and most of all a playmaker PG for Lou Will

Love Boban but he shouldn’t be averaging 7 points against a team trying to be a contender. They didn’t have to scheme an assisted play they just told Boban to dunk on his little ass.
I’ll admit a lot of that was Doc Rivers being horrible but Trez does have issue with length or long hustle players

Raptor fans refer to "hands of stones" which aren't a good thing with LeBrons passes.

Ibaka is a beter fit for the Clippers but just because Doc Rivers didn't know how to use Harrell doesnt mean he can't be a much better player with Lebron. AD, and Vogel.

Ibaka can still play...
He might have lost some 1 step or 2, but he can stretch the floor and for the most part defend...
It's a good signing and if Ibaka is at least what he was last year he might be a better fit than Harrell.

Trez is a hustle player. And he has a 7'4" wingspan; he doesn't have problems with length.
