Serge Ibaka Appreciation thread
Man....in my memories....his biggest contribution was against Philly. The biggest test we faced on our chip run.
There were at least two games that he was our second best scorer behind Kawhi.
Game 7 he hit some huge 3s. The one I'll remember most was that broken play where he sunk that crucial one off-balance at the end of a broken play.
Kawhi was obviously our best guy in that series....but we don't win it without Serge. As far as game 7 goes....he was the second best clutch guy in the greatest game of our franchise history.

That 3 you mentioned is an all time Raptors play. Like legitimately top 10.
He was big time, no doubt about it. He came a long way from getting disrespected by Bron lol

Raps don't win the title without his performance in Game 7 against the Sixers. They desperately needed someone other than Kawhi to step up that game, and Serge answered the call. I'll also always remember his dunk during the 26-3 run in Game 6 against the Bucks. Forever a Raptors legend.

I bet he comes back to Toronto in some capacity.
Also bet he gets more crowd love in the ACC than Kawhi does long term.

Yeah, it's just a basketball decision. It's business, can't be mad at that.

Thx for the memories serge, was really happy to have on the team. Miss his impact off the court and in the locker room. He was a special guy for this team.

I think I gotta agree with you there.
That was the only elimination game we faced on our chip run. I was nervous as ****. The only thing that came close was game 3 against the bucks but even then....I felt more confidence in our team for reason. Game 7 against Philly I was SHOOK.
I'd have to watch it again...but I remember that off-balance 3 coming at a time that our offence had completely dried up. They had zeroed in on Kawhi and everyone else was scared to shoot. It was like slugging through mud that series. Ibaka was our only guy who didn't seem mentally drained by Philly's defence. There's no team in the league today with Philly's defence that year. It was a monumental task to overcome.

Gonna miss the guy a lot. Both on and off the court he was a raptor legend. The impact he had on this franchise both with his leadership and his skills was huge. We definitely wouldn’t have won a chip if it weren’t for his contributions.
The leadership he showed in the locker room as well was very key for us. He always took the young guys under his wing and gave them confidence.
Wish him the best of luck and hope to see him back in toronto in some form in the future. Peace out MaFuzzy chef

I’m still legit in shambles right now...thought we had a better chance at keeping Serge than FVV. I’m devastated Serge showed us so much love and repped the city/country hard. FVV often seems indifferent and focuses more on his own branding.
This one hits home a little differently. And of all the teams, he had to choose the Clippers...

Re: Serge Ibaka Appreciation thread
I think that he was huge in defending Giannis in the playoffs.
He was always professional and played his heart out as a starter or off of the bench.
Ibaka was a leader in the locker room and brought personalities together with MaFuzzy, while being the first guy to defend any teammate, literally always ready to fight for our guys.
His shot became quite the weapon and he played well off of Kyle and Fred especially well.
He certainly out-performed his expectations from ORL, given that we got him for a song.
Thank you Serge, you showed up for us and always played with heart and improved your defense immensely.
Without you, the Raptors would never have been champions.

Forever to be Toronto legends:
Lowry
Kawhi
Siakam
VV
Powell
Gasol
Ibaka
These are the core 7 guys that brought a championship to Toronto. They deserve praise regardless of what they do in the future.

one of the best big men our team has ever had, and the most successful at developing his social media/online brand during his time here. Bonne chance MaFuzzy Chef.
