I fell asleep a little after the Carey pick, but was pleasantly surprised to see 2 new rooks this morning!

Carey is fine, like others have said he wouldn't have been my choice but the upside is intriguing. Five years ago he a lottery pick.

Have like no thoughts on Richards. I trust Mitch, but he really wasn't on my radar as a draft target.

Riller might actually be my favorite of the 2nd rounders. At his age, he felt like an ideal early 2nd pick, some even had him sneaking into the first.

That 5 of the final 6 picks were Riller, Scrubb, Reed, Harris, and Merrill is crazy to me; felt they all could've gone 20 picks higher.

Aside from this, my favorite pick might be Isaiah Joe at 49; was my favorite realistic target for 32.

And none of those were our actual picks! Which is good, because we've already traded 2021 (Willy), 2023 (Devonte'), and 2024 (Richards).

Methinks we'll see a re-stocking trade in the near-ish future.

For as much talk about how shooting is now the biggest NBA skill...I'm a little surprised by how many guys drafted in the top 10 need to really work on their shot.

The best pure shooter in the top 10 at this point is probably Toppin. The second best shooter is between Edwards and Williams and they need alot of work. The guys with projected consistent 3 point range from day 1 didn't go until the end of the lottery (Haliburton, Lewis, and Nesmith).

Reading through all kinds of post-draft commentary today. I've seen at least four different writers say that ball has more upside than anyone the Hornets have ever drafted. I wish they would make the distinction of post Bobcats expansion. Larry Johnson had more upside than anyone we ever drafted. End of story. Next would be Alonzo Mourning. I think you could then make the argument that third would be Baron Davis. I would agree that ball has the highest ceiling anyone we have drafted since we came back into the league in 2004. Of those degree I previously mentioned, morning is the only one to actually hit his ceiling. Baron came pretty close for short stretches during his career but kept getting sidetracked with injuries. The gold standard will always be what Larry Johnson could have been without the back entry with another two to three years of improving his game (adding 3pt shot, expanding point forward role).

I’m not sure which of our posters said it (sorry!!) but they were SO right:

For all the years for there to not be a Summer League of COURSE it’s this year when we have a super exciting draft prospect who would likely just absolutely destroy the Summer League and do some amazing things to get us super excited (Melo) and three other prospects that would be awesome to see play as well it HAD to be this year.

Why do the basketball Gods hate us so much?

I am surprised to see noone has offered a contract to Karim Mane yet. I wish we would.

I also can't believe Devon Dotson wasn't drafted. Dude is better than a few starting PG's

Guessing there won't be a rookie/sophomore showcase either, we could've seen LaMelo and PJ tear it up!

I have heard multiple times that Devon Dotson and Paul Reed had first round talent, but they had horrible interviews and background checks.

I know I said it earlier, but my source told me we black balled drafting Josh Jackson from our draft list based on his background check.

There is far more to consider than just what a player does on the court.

This draft was so deep even the knicks drafted somewhat well. Toppin and Balmaro is a great draft for the Knicks. It was kind of hard to mess up a draft like this. Way too deep. and they signed Myles Powell another stud.

Isaiah Joe messed up my dream draft

3 - Terry - plus acquire a future first

32 - Bey (I never thought he would actually fall this far)

56 - Joe (but I am more than happy with Alexander)

I wonder if we should have concidered Reggie Perry at pick 56. He went like pick 58 or something. I wonder if Reggie Perry will end up with a better career than Wiseman. I wonder if Perry and Paul Reed will end up better than Wiseman and Toppin. I am not predicting that but I wonder

Here is an update on where the remaining players signed. I am happy we got Keandre Cook. Some players I WISH we could have signed were

PG - Dotson, Cowen, Ndoye, Cumberland / SG - Alexander, Jones, Mane / SF - Hall, Doolittle
PF - Stevens, Marshall / C - Hammonds

Lots of good players. I never seen this much talent left after a draft before.

i dont know about better, but he definitely looks solid. Like a better, stronger Frank Kaminsky.
Sort of funny how it's got tougher for bigs to get drafted this year

Yap, it's like the Running back in football. They don't seem worth taking in the first round anymore. I think Reggie Perry is a stud. I wish we would have considered him. He and Paul Reed could make us regret it.

Paul Reed >>>> Obi Toppin

Reggie Perry >> James Wiseman

Not saying it's gonna happen but wouldn't surprise me

KALEB WESSON - The Warriors sign Kaleb Wesson who went undrafted so I guess they were really looking for a Center. They also drafted Wiseman.

SKYLAR MAYS - Also the Hawks drafting Skylar Mays was good for them. I think Mays can be a real sleeper. Their GM is good, drafting Young, John Collins and Skylar Mays.

VIT KREJCI - I LOVE Vit Krejci's game. I would have had him at our 56 pick if he was available. I have Vit as a sleeper. I didn't know he was in the draft anymore. Krejci has a torn ACL I believe but he should heel well. He is a 6'6 PG who has a strong offensive mindset.

UNDRAFTED FUTURE NBA STARTERS -
I wouldn't surprise me if these guys became future STARTERS on teams

PG -
