I'm hoping Masai has a trade brewing because this does not look good.

Turner would be the best bet here.

I don't think Turner is good enough to get our front office to abandon their 2021 max FA capspace

John Collins according to the last Lowe podcast.
Wendell Carter was also being shopped by the Bulls so he could be available as well.

Those are two other trade options.

No he's not. I'm not a salary cap genius but you'd be ingesting an extra 7 million in 2021. This wouldn't abandon the goal I don't think. A core of Siakam, Van Vleet, and Turner is a very good core to add a max player too.

Baynes at his age shouldn’t be settling for a one year deal but let’s hope we can convince him. Nobody else out there as well rounded at the Center spot

If Biyombo is available we should absolutely target him. Familiarity, and we know how to use him right. He’s not a complete wash offensively either given his offensive rebounding and almost average free throw shooting

My concern here is... did the Raptors really not have a backup plan for this scenario? Did Fred waiting to meet with teams cause us to get shutout on a couple of deals? A lot of deals seemed to happen quickly and basically sitting on our own FA might have backfired.

Like, I honestly believe the FO thought they could get FVV and Ibaka back, but the market might have driven up Fred's price a bit and caused us to only be able to offer Ibaka the MLE - which, when the money is even, I guess chasing a potential championship in LA (where his show might take off) is a much better option.

I think this market surprised a lot of front offices. There was a lot of talk about the market being a bit depressed and players having to take deals that were lower than typical. That doesn't seem to be the case. Most of the deals are in-line with what we've seen in typical years.

I don't see Gasol being a viable option for us. He showed last year that he can't play starter minutes and he wasn't nearly as good as he used to be - even when compared to the year before. So signing him just wouldn't make sense. But the market is so thin we might have to circle back around to him. Which isn't the best place to be in.

someone with a better understanding of the CBA can probably clarify, but from my understanding we have something like 29M available if we renounce everyone but OG. So bringing in Turner's 18M that year would negate any shot we have of bringing a max FA here.

Bismack would be a good feel signing we all need after losing Ibaka and probably Gasol.

Looks like Gasol is close to signing with the Lakers as per Charania. Giles is gone. Only really Baynes left, but he won't likely want a one year deal. A crap center we have to trade an asset for is now looking like a very possible avenue. Just when Norm was starting to look good...

Giles signed with Portland.

Hope we land 2 of Baynes, Cousins or Bismack - re-sign Boucher and call it a day.

Wendell Carter would be a good trade get. Parlay Norm Powell for him.

Return to Toronto Raptors
