Interesting. Atlanta is really going all in now and trying to win. Lots of depth at almost all positions.

It's going to be hard for them to find enough time for all of their young wing guys though. Bogdan, Reddish, Hunter, Huerter, Bembrey. Seems like at least a couple of those guys are going to get lost in the shuffle. It'll be interesting to see how it all shakes out and who they prioritize when it comes time for extensions for all of these guys in a couple of years.

While its true this isnt an all in year and this is kind of a skip year for 2021....the way this girl worded all that did NOTHING to console fans, in fact it was a bit patronizing, and even had a "for now" when mentioning masai and bobby. Ya girlfriend, that REALLY helps.

Who r these twitter ppl...

I hope sarah says starts saying a lot less.

We keep talking about a deep free agent class in 2021 but as far as the Raptors are concerned there is only one max player we even have a shot at because Lebron and Kawhi aren't going to come here. Other then that it's not so great a class really. Do you really want to pay someone like Rudy Gobert max money or any of the other players on that list for that matter. It's a class of aging free agents or injury issues looking for long term deals at max money. Big risk and hopefully we don't pull a Pistons type move paying big money to players that aren't major game changers just because that's all that's available. We're far better off looking for up and comers instead.

Agree 100%.

A lot of fans here setting themselves up for disappointment.

I'm not saying our strategy of preserving cap space until next summer is unwise. Bobby and Masai know more than we do. But history shows us the Raptors have been unable to land a superstar via free agency. The last year is also telling. We treated Kawhi, Ibaka, and Gasol like Gods and yet it looks like all 3 will be gone. When faced with the opportunity to win, play in warmer weather, and pay less income tax, players have consistently chosen other destinations over Toronto.

We don't offer an advantage over the likes of the Clippers, Miami, Dallas, etc next summer. Yes we are exceptionally managed but so too are teams like Miami (who also have way better weather and far lower tax).

We're going to have to retool through trades and the draft since I can't see us landing a coveted big fish through free agency.

we will be fine. trust in the fo

and having a free max salary slot is also good to have for a trade, absorbing a contract without having to match. not just necessarily a signing.

That is a decent deal for Bogdan. The Hawks have really turned it around for this reason. I could easily see them as a playoff team.

I suspect our relocation to Tampa and the uncertainty that came before this announcement severely hampered our ability to attract free agents to the Raptors.

We have some money to spend and we need bodies. I don't imagine the front office plans on tanking this year. We are destined for the playoffs.

We have all our picks too. Its not literally Giannis or bust. Every summer there's stars that want out things change fast in the nba lets see what its like in a year.

If there aren't any major developments soon, by the end of the week I will have talked myself into Boucher being a 30-minute-a-game starter at the center position. lol

Think of the speed and switching defence! The fast break potential! Maybe that guy who kept absurdly claiming that Boucher was a better prospect than Siakam will be right!

Ask yourself this:

Why was Miami able to sign M. Leonard and Dragic to 2 year delas with the second year being team
Options and not player options. Why was Masai not able to do the same with Ibaka with all the african connection, winning a championship etc.

After analyzing this if you still think we will sign any significant free agent in 2021, then you are in for a rude awakening.

if we fail to get someone we actually want with the capspace we're preserving and it doesn't look like there are other worthwhile options in FA, OKC has shown that there are other useful ways to utilize that capspace via trades. Definitely better than signing someone to a bad contract.

You think it was a good idea to sign Meyers Leonard on day 1? He played himself out of their rotation, and they still paid him.

We will never strike gold in free agency. We have to build through draft and trades.

The only way we can get good players in free agency is if we had a superstar or two. We dont have one at the moment.

There is nothing left in free agency that can make us close to real contenders. Still hoping we grab a 2-3 flier on a big with upside but what potential trades are there?

Just throwing a tonne of names out there

Larry nance jr
Myles turner - tj warren(probably not gettable)
Julius Randle
Steven Adams
Aaron Gordon
Richaun Holmes - Jabari Parker

Grabbing a mobile pf or big sf is I think the way to go. Double down on our most effective lineups in playoffs.
