Knicks definitely following an analytics approach to their moves. I've been a fan of Burks since he was drafted. Have taken him on a few BATs as well. He's no world beater, especially at this point in his career but he does well for the role. And considering who the Knicks have on the roster it is a role that is needed.

PS: he averaged 15ppg last season, is a versatile scorer that can shoot 3s. For 1 year $6 million thats a good signing. Clearly not enough for this team but its a start. Let's just hope its not the end.

This is probably the reason they cut ties with Dotson. I'm guessing Burks 3 pt average is higher than Dotson's.

Alec Burks is a great John Houseman name (for those of you familiar with the Academy Award winning movie, The Paper Chase ... and if you aren't, then you most certainly should go watch it).

This guy might be our lead guard like he was at times for Golden State with Deangelo Russell playing off ball

The only things I remember about Mr. Buuuuurks is that when he was in Utah he absolutely sucked but when he was in Philly, it seems like to beat the holy crap out of us.

No point to this. We're gonna suck, just play the kids. God, this franchise is so damn stupid.

God forbid we just play Dotson. Or Trier. WTF happened to Trier?
Wild idea but what if the “We gon’ git you right” Mudiay treatment applied to our own draftees?

Just watching some tape of Burks to re-familiarize myself with him. Big guard who has a smooth game, despite obviously losing a step since his college/Utah Jazz days. He's crafty though, knows how to get to the rim, cashes in at the line, looks like a decent passer and he's made himself into a better 3-pt shooter the older he's gotten. Just looking at the smoothness at that size even though he's clearly lost a step and some athleticism from his earlier days -- the current version kinda reminds me of Mardy Collins -- he's like Mardy Collins with a better jumper. He's short term and I wish they held on to Dotson instead, but not a bad player or a bad fill-in for a year.
