The Knicks continued to use veteran journeyman Ed Davis to gather assets.

Acquired last week from Utah along with two second-round picks as sweetener, Davis’ $5 million pact was shipped to Minnesota for another future second-round pick, sweet-shooting big man Omari Spellman and Jacob Evans.
Seems as if people on the General NBA board liked that trade for the Knicks. Like you, I don't get it at all, and I think it was pointless.

Cade Cunningham.
Sekou Doumbouya Just going to be left on the bench when he has more upside than most of those players?

I’d start Sekou at the 3, with Grant at the 4 and Blake playing the 5. In the East, Blake should be able to handle the banging. Rose at the 1 and for now Delon at 2 but he’s better suited coming off the pine as a 6th man to me.

Agree, unless there are only trying to fill their roster with what they think they will easily be able to trade later for a bigger player

Brandon Ingram has reportedly agreed to a five-year, $158 million max deal with the Pelicans.

Ingram was always expected to re-up with the Pelicans, and it'll be interesting to see how he's utilized in Stan Van Gundy's system after breaking out with career-best numbers under Alvin Gentry last year. It is worth pointing out that while Ingram was a third-round player on the year as a whole, in the 21 games alongside Zion Williamson, he dropped to eighth-round status, so it could be tough for him to recapture the stats from his pre-Zion run last season. Still, he should be a safe bet for top-50 value.

Surprised, me, that Shaq Harrison hasn't been scooped up yet. Know that mine is probably not a majority opinion, but I like him better than Dunn b/c while he's only a plus defender and not elite, he's also a markedly better asset on offense.

The Kings are one of four teams showing the most significant interest in free agent small forward Glenn Robinson III, league sources told The Sacramento Bee. McNair and assistant general manager Wes Wilcox have been forthright and diligent throughout the process in talks between the two sides, sources said.

It's official he's going to Sacramento. I was kind of surprised he was still on the market.

Dennis Schroder said he believes he could be the starting point guard this season.

"I did this off the bench stuff already the last two years in OKC," he said. "I think with LeBron [James] and [Anthony Davis] I can be helpful as a starter in the PG position." In order for Schroder to start, Anthony Davis would either have to start at the five or one of Kentavious Caldwell-Pope or Wesley Matthews would have to come off the bench. Matthews coming off the pine would be the most likely option if Schroder does get the starting nod, but either way he's looking at a massive workload. With how much we're expecting LeBron to rest Schroder should still have decent fantasy value this season, but we'd like him better with the second unit so his usage could stagger with LBJ and AD.

WOW!! Westbrook/Wall trade.
Houston lost on both Westbrook trades. First OKC robbed them getting a plethora of picks, now all they got is Wall who hasn't played in 2 years and a lottery protected 2023 1st. Wow just Wow. Things can change in this NBA real fast, 2 years ago Houston was a title contender.

And eventually John Wall will be in Houston by himself because James Harden eventually leaves.

Dillon Brooks said Jaren Jackson Jr. showed up to camp "maybe 2-3 inches taller."

JJJ is officially listed as 6-11, so this would make him a true 7-footer at the minimum unless Brooks judges height as well as he judges a good shot. A true unicorn with his blend of rim protection and 3-point shooting, maybe the added size will help him in the rebounding department as that's currently his only glaring weakness. We absolutely love JJJ's outlook this year but it's unfortunate that he will begin the season on the shelf as he continues to recover from left knee surgery. A return in January is not off the table.

Absolutely cannot believe how many previously-considered-decent-to-good players remain unsigned at this date. Best guess from here is that, with not much if any G-League play anticipated, GMs have mostly decided to give contracts to the guys they would have most wanted to develop there, and thus, the 13-15th roster slots have went to those guys instead of the ones with 2-4 years experience who GMs think have mostly tapped their ceiling.

Yes? No? Maybe? Other explanations?
