If it happens, whatever rings that trio wins will carry little weight in all time rankings.

no hes not
the lakers have made a point not to go into 21 salary space with the contracts they handed out last 2 years (except KCP this year, he should be movable if GA commits). Lakers are players in 21 cap space

Yeah, his comparison doesn't make sense.
It doesn’t have to be a 1:1 comparison; it’d still be lame af if this happened, there’d absolutely be no point in watching the league at that point.

Milwaukee has had Giannis under lock and key for 7 and going on 8 years thanks to CBA favours that hugely benefit small market teams.
Besides, there is zero correlation to large market teams and winning in the NBA - otherwise the Clippers, Knicks and Nets would have long, storied history’s of championships to gloat about.
And no one talked about the Warriors being in an advantageous ‘large market’ when they were on a 30-year run of being the worst franchise in the NBA.

This isn't going to happen. Isn't the supermax extension deadline way later anyway? I have a hard time believing AD, NBA champion in his prime playing w possibly the GOAT, is structuring his deal to align with Giannis. Similarly, I have a hard time believing Giannis would ever join AD and Lebron. Windhorst is just stirring **** up.
The Lakers FO will obviously try it because you'd be an idiot as a FO not to, just like they tried with Kawhi.

Like Durant, Lebron would get most of the criticism because those are the two working hardest to shape their legacy.

Somebody should tell AD and Lebron that Cap Holds are a thing.

Are you even a Lakers fan and follow the Lakers?
Lakers are giving 1 year contracts to everyone except for Harrell, Gasol, KCP.
Harrell and Gasol are 2 year deals and they will opt out next season.
KCP is a three year deal with 3rd year partially guaranteed. They can easily trade him away with a draft pick.

I'm not sure why this surprises any of you. Lebron was recruiting Kawhi to link up with him and AD. Imagine how cheap that team would be? Lebron doesn't give a F about being overpowered etc. If it helps him win rings it's all good looool

so will AD wait until 12/21 to re-sign with LAL?
I mean: within a week we shouldn't know if Giannis will re-sign with the Bucks or not.

LeBron and/or AD would have to take huge paycut, ain't gonna happen.
AD will take 1+1, then he'll opt out and take 1+1 next year, and then he'll sign multiyear 10year vet max in 2022.

Lakers could win 60 games with only those three on the floor.

For sure, but LeBron getting the target on his back instead of Giannis is what makes no sense. Like zimpy said, it'd be like Curry getting hated on instead of Durant.
But yeah, it would be sad to see

They would just need to trade KCP (if Harrell and Gasol opt out)
But that's 3 guys taking up the entire cap. Seems impractical. LeBron and AD would probably take a pay cut
why is anyone surprised by this? Lakers have not given anny contracts last 2 years going past 21 (except KCP this year). Harrel and Gasol will opt out unless they get injured. Getting the 3 max players is doable especially if LBJ and AD agree to take a little cut off the top of their salary
Is that really enough? Isn't the empty roster charge like 900k per free spot? Wouldn't that mean the Lakers would be 9M short of using the full Salary Cap? Then you have the 5M cap hit from Dengs stretched contract.

I agree it'd be lame, but that's only because the Lakers proved they can win without him. Front offices are very incentivized to make the lame outcome a reality for their own team. Do you think Kawhi, PG, and the Clippers aren't going to be recruiting Giannis?

I would probably feel equally about all 3 if that makes it better.

LeBron has an opt out next year. AD can sign a 1 + 1 with opt out next year.
They would both opt out and sign a new contract before signing Giannis. Cap hold doesn't matter.

Nobody talks about bad teams in general. It's not like people forgot there were a lot of people and money around San Francisco.
If you think the California teams and a Utah or Milwaukee are playing under the same rules, you're crazy.

Like the present Lakers but I like basketball more. All hands on deck to stop this from happening. The KD's Warriors were terrible for hardcore fans and this would be worse. I hope the basketball world spends the next 12 months on Giannis' twitter telling him he'd have it worse than KD
Giannis better not consider it after all that crap about not wanting to play with stars and ruining several all star game selections with it
