They seem maxed out at PF/C unless waiving Bell.

They have a lot to do at backup SF and could do with another PG. They still don't have the 5m from Deng. Maybe they go in to season with these guys and use 5m for buy outs if it comes.

Bell contract not guranteed and isn't better than Morris.

Think depth chart more like the following based on positions guarded and sub rotations.

PG: KCP, Schroeder
SG: Matthews, Caruso, THT
SF: Lebron, Kuzma
PF: AD,Markieff
C : Gasol, Harrell

Don't really see Bell or McKinnie playing.

Would be shocked if Scroeder isn't starting.

Would be surprised if he was. Think Matthews is the logical Green replacement who guards the best wing sparing Lebron. And i think KCP gets the other starting nod. DS probably finishes games, but i think they go with more size/defense starting

And another. Just mentioned him in another thread, so glad to see a team snap him up.

Good locker room/practice guy, works hard, brings a certain toughness, can actually run an offense as a PG, etc. For the vet minimum, I'm fine with it.

I know Matthews was solid for the Bucks last year, but "starting SG for a contender who defends the other team's best wing" seems like a lot to pencil him in for at age 34 and post-injury.

Who else would defend the best wing? Lebron?

DG and Mathews played the same minutes last season.

Is George Hill gonna stick around in OKC?

Would love him on the Raptors.

Yeah thinking more.about it and I see it as this:

PG: Schroeder | Caruso
SG: KCP | THT
SF: LeBron | Matthews | McKinnie
PF: Davis | Kuzma | Markieff
C : Harrell | Gasol

Lakers need some guard depth

The sign-and-trade option was off the table as soon as an offer sheet was signed. Now the only choice the Kings have is to match the offer or not. If they match, Bogdanovic can reject trades he doesn't like through next season making it more challenging to move him. Sacramento needs to decide if it's worth it to bring back a guy who doesn't want to be there and live with the turmoil that brings.

I can't see more than 5 teams that Bogdan would reject to depart from Sacramento and probably these are the only 5 teams that wouldn't make an offer for him. If Bogdan was OK to go to Atlanta, he will accept any trade to a better team than Sacramento. I think I can name 24 of them.

There are many more reasons for Bogdan to possibly refuse a trade to a place. Could be they don’t play a style that suits him. Or he doesn’t get along with the coaches there. Or he has no interest in living in that city. Or that they have a ton of players at his position and he doesn’t want to set his career back. And more and more.

Also are there 24 teams that can come to an equitable agreement? We make it sound so easy to make these trades, yet here we are.

Pretty amazing to think that you can put out a chemistry fire by throwing Boogie Cousins on it :D Hopefully he has matured a lot during his time in the league, because Houston needs it.

If it's a process of elimination between two guys in their mid-30s, then maybe it's Matthews. But I don't know if that's a great way to build a contender.

And I don't think you can rely on Matthews giving you the same as he did the Bucks last year, when he's a year older and playing in a less impressive (though still good) defensive lineup.

Wood and Cousins is an interesting frontcourt. Wonder if Tucker is on his way elsewhere now.

I don't think the chemistry fire is as much between all the players as between the players and owner. Bringing a 'star' in is probably a move to try and salvage things and if it doesn't work you make your move at the all-star break. I don't think it's a bad idea.

I mean you had Green doing it last year. And Matthews played that role for the Bucks last year as well, fairly successfully.

I agree with that part. The question is what happens if things continue to sour in Houston: will having Cousins around make that better or worse?

Most of what I hear says that he's come a long way since his fiery days in Sacramento. Hopefully that's true.
