I'd be happier with Cousins over McGee. If the team picks him up then he's not a problem in the lockerroom.

I have to think that if Cousins were healthy he would have been snapped up. I haven't seen one report or clip that makes me think he's healthy.

Also if you look at the Wanamaker and Bazemore signings - they’re good lockeroom guys who can also provide good mentorship to the younger players - Paschal, Poole, Mannion and to a lesser extent Wiggins & Oubre. They’re not game impacters like Livingston and Iggy were so theyre just place holders for this year

The idea of Gasol and Ibaka was something similar for Wiseman right not there really isn’t anything in FA anymore so the other option might have to be through trade - I’ve heard a PJ Tucker who has played some center in Hou but I’m not sure how on board I am with him. Even a Steven Adam’s would have been a nice get but it’s starting to look like Bogut might be the best remaining option that I can think of.

I don’t want Cousins anywhere near Wiseman. Easy pass.

I’d do Looney for McGee in a second. But my main goal there is that Javale only has 1 year left on his deal and Looney has 2 years left. W’s need to get out of that Looney deal if they can imo.

Cousins may not be a boy scout but I have never heard of a locker room problem. He is nasty to ref's and opponents. He wanted to play injured in the playoffs the last time he was a W.

In Strauss's book, he mentions that Boogie was kind of going rogue in the first game against the Clippers before he got hurt and was taking a lot more threes than Kerr wanted. The implication was that Boogie was hunting shots at the expense of the team concept because of his contract concerns.

At this point, Boogie is a low-risk, high reward type guy. The Warriors need more play-makers and Boogie's passing is sensational.

If true then the Warriors will not call him.

There is zero reason for Cousins to be added for any amount of money.

He's a (needed) big body, cand provide some (needed) offense from the bench, he's a good passer for the position, can matchup with the big in the west.

I don't think Kerr was on board with Cousins from the start, for stylistic reasons. He probably couldn't really oppose it because his stars were enthusiastic about it, since they had ties to him from Team USA.

Really if you think about it, the drawing power of the Warriors when it comes to FAs consists of KD, Zaza, West, Boogie.

I think KD and West were outliers, willing to take less money to ring chase.

Even during those KD years, Warriors didn't have much luck with the buyout market while other teams were picking up such players.

I agree with your post to some extent.
Just, given the situation, if he’s healthy and in decent condition his characteristics can be useful. Especially offensively.
That of course doesn’t mean he’ll be back, even if our FO gives him a call (maybe they already have).

That's quite a stretch. The difference between a low playoff seed and a contender is huge; 70% of peak Cousins isn't going to bridge that gap. The question is: how good are we right now and how much are we missing to have a shot at the title?

Maybe that's why Houston got him instead of GSW.

Apparently Bill Simmons said Beal was pushing to get Westbrook to Washington...makes sense why Wall was asking for a trade all of a sudden.

I think Beal will hit the market sometime in the next year.

Lou Williams is most likely getting dealt. Would be perfect for our bench. But I don’t see a path for us.

DPE if he gets traded to a non-contender is about it

Best offer the Warriors could realistically make is something like Looney+Paschall+filler.

I don’t think the Clippers would want to trade Lou into the DPE unless they’re getting back draft compensation(1st round pick).

Would they pay luxury taxes for the DPE?

Aren't they already paying luxury taxes on Klays contract?

They pay tax on any team salary over the tax line, about $132M.

One way player ... but he's good at that one way.
