They should have always been discussing trading Rose.

Wish this was from Woj or Shams, I tend not to believe any other sources online.
That being said, I hope it’s true

Re: Pistons discussing possible Derrick Rose trade
The draft is over and the Pistons have decided to be a team competing for a playoff spot. A D-Rose trade at this stage makes little sense. Than again, this offseason has made little sense.

This isn’t a Woj level source, but not a trash one either.

Re: Pistons discussing possible Derrick Rose trade
That tweet is funny. I’m pretty sure they’ve “internally discussed” plenty of things. Trading players, signing players, stretching players, ordering lunch, taking Weaver’s phone away. I’m fairly certain all teams do. It’s when they become “external discussions” that this becomes newsworthy.
Btw, that’s not a shot at you for posting, Han Solo. Glad you shared it. Just making fun of the tweet itself.

What makes you believe we're chasing the playoffs?

And likely they have. I think it’s the best thing for everyone. Gives him a chance to win, gives Casey no excuse for not playing Hayes.
Just don’t take on long term money and get whatever draft capital you can. Would be nice to get a second rounder or 2 if possible.

At what point do Rose and/or Griffin request out of this Weaver mess?

Not sure players view the moves the way we do. They may know/like the players we brought in.

I think that these signings are rampant of Gores demanding a winning season. Why over pay for Grant and Plumlee?

I'm ok either way.
I'd love to see his professionalism lead the way for the kids.
I'd also like to get some assests for him.
I'd also like to see him traded to a team with a chance to win.

This was from a few days ago (in the immediate aftermath of Klay’s injury). Purely speculation on my end, but maybe GS is a team that’s made overtures about Rose?

Re: Pistons discussing possible Derrick Rose trade
If/when Golden State Warriors get a DPE for Klay Thompson, Rose makes a lot of sense for them given they only have Brad Wanamaker and Nico Mannion behind Steph Curry. I can't imagine the plan is for Steph to play 72 games and 35+ minutes a game.
Issue being what comes back? They traded a protected 2021 FRP to OKC for Kelly Oubre already. It's top 20 protected and instantly becomes a SRP in 2021. So earliest FRP Detroit could get from GSW would be 2023.
2023 FRP and a 7M TPE for Rose is probably a trade I would make.

Grant got market value and is 26 years old
IF you believe that a roster like ours is going to contend for a playoff spot then I got nothing for you

I have no faith in Weaver getting good value for rose in a trade. None.

Looks to me like we’re a team that was contending for 7-10 in the lottery every year, and we’re now becoming a team going for 1-4!

Market value and value per ability are two different things. No one believes Plumlee is worth what he got paid. It’s a disaster for sure.

Re: Pistons discussing possible Derrick Rose trade
Mason Plumlee must be a really good guy who is in the good graces of a lot of people. That's really the only way I can explain the 2 contracts he's gotten.
The one he had in Denver was for even more, amazingly enough.
It's a shame we were the ones to pay him this time.
