When the last guy on your bench is one of the most popular guys on the team - re-signing him is a no brainer! I really hope Tacko gets a chance to play more this year. Give him some chances to play with the starters once in a while, and let's see if he can do anything. He might never be more than an end-of-the-bench kind of player, but with his unique height, why not give him a chance to play with the best unit on occasion?

It seemed like this would happen with Tacko. I am surprised that Waters didn't get an offer sheet from somebody. I may be higher on him than others are. He could be a problem in the postseason, but I think he would shine in the regular season if somebody gave him a real role.

Huge fan of both of them, and while I don’t think Tremont will really establish himself in the NBA I really want us to give Tacko a thorough chance in the big leagues — whether this year or later — before letting him go. Tacko fan club baby!

I realize Tacko is never going to be a star center in this league but I don't see why he can't be a real contributor (10-15 minutes a game) with a second unit that plays zone on D. I love what Miami did with they bit athletic wings at the top of the box and Bam protecting the rim. Obviously Tacko is not as athletic as Bam but he is almost a foot taller than Bam and has a foot bigger wingspan and standing reach.

Haven't been shy about not being high on either of these guys, but they are totally reasonable value in your two-way slots. Wasn't itching to sign two other new randos instead. So welcome back.
Anyway, the fact that they didn't get any other minimum offers elsewhere tells us something, I think. Granting either of them a full roster spot would have been too much at this point in time, imo.
Either way, as usual, Ainge makes sure he has at least 4 true PGs and 4 true Cs in the organization.

I don't think any team was going to outbid us. They were both RFA's.

Possibly. I personally think that if a team had offered either of them a real contract, we would not have matched. I don't think they're worth it at this time. We would have sincerely congratulated them and let them go.
But, I've been wrong enough in the past couple of days to ... not be able to come up with a metaphor for it.

Edwards had to hit shots or he has to go. I loved the pick. And we saw in that cavs preseason game what he is capable of. Can he shoot it consistently though? Y

I still believe in him. He had a rough year and his demeanor changed from happy go lucky to a little stressed out. Maybe he pressed too much. I think he is a competitor and has a scorer’s mentality. I like that he has ability to attack the rim at times even though as you say he has to make 3s like an Eddie House to justify a roster spot. Maybe he isn’t cut out for the big leagues but I wouldn’t be surprised to see him blossom this year or next much like Rozier did. He better though, because the competition got a lot stiffer after the draft this year.

Tacko is like a 7 foot lottery ticket that we just HAVE to hang onto in case it hits....
I do believe at some point THIS season he either needs to start playing or we should move on. He's not going to get better sitting at the end of the bench waiting for us to be up by 20 so he can play the last two minutes of the 4th.

For all the praise Brad gets for putting players in a position to succeed, he did a very poor job with Langford imo. Every time he was out there it was a 3&D role, although his strengths are ball handling and slashing. Brad never goes out of his comfort zone and rookies suffer the most because of it. I understand Brad is trying to win games but then he and Ainge should do a better job at drafting for fit instead of wasting talent away. After such a year I'm not sure if Langford will even feel comfortable with the ball in his hands anymore.

He played well for Maine. Guy is so much better a basketball player than we give him credit. I think he’s a player. Would like to see him get some run.

So a 72 game season they can play 50 what about playoffs?
